Description

Alaska Northstar Federal is looking for a Project Control Analyst to join the team on a long-term project to be awarded soon. The Project Control Analyst provides comprehensive project support services to Project Managers as part of a complex, multi-team, federal program. The analyst plays a critical role in the oversight, tracking, and analysis of project financials, schedules, contract compliance, and status reporting. This position ensures that the program consistently meets contractual, regulatory, and customer expectations by meticulously managing the details that underpin successful delivery. The Project Control Analyst will collaborate closely with Project Managers, technical teams, subcontractors, and customer stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.  


Responsibilities for the Project Control Analyst will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Provide daily support to Project Managers in maintaining accurate tracking of project budgets, expenditures, forecasts, revenue recognition, accruals, and other financial activities. 
  • Prepare, update, and analyze project financial reports, burn charts, funding status updates, and earned value management (EVM) summaries to ensure accurate, timely data for management review and customer reporting. 
  • Monitor and track contract deliverables, milestones, and payment schedules; proactively alert Project Managers to upcoming deadlines, funding thresholds, or at-risk items. 
  • Support the development and continual updating of integrated master schedules (IMS) and other project timelines using scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent. 
  • Coordinate, prepare, and submit routine and ad hoc reports for internal review, government customers, and program auditors in accordance with federal reporting requirements and contract terms. 
  • Maintain and audit documentation of change requests, modifications, and task orders; ensure all supporting documentation is organized, compliant, and accessible for reviews or audits. 
  • Track, reconcile, and validate labor, subcontract, material, and other cost data in accounting and program management information systems. 
  • Support risk and issue tracking by documenting observations, mitigation actions, and status, ensuring the Project Manager has full situational awareness of project health. 
  • Assist with internal and external audits, data calls, and review meetings by gathering, validating, and preparing financial and contractual materials. 
  • Facilitate coordination between prime and subcontractor teams on matters of invoicing, funding, deliverables, and cost controls.
  • Support compliance with internal controls, government accounting standards, and agency-specific financial policies and procedures. 
  • Perform other project support, reporting, or administrative tasks as directed by the Project Manager to ensure mission success.   
Requirements

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

Candidate must have an active DoD Secret Clearance 

Candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in the following: 

  • Project control, project finance, or program analyst roles in a federal contracting environment. 
  • Proficient in financial tracking, analysis, and reporting for government contracts; understanding of government contract types, funding mechanisms, and cost control. 
  • Working knowledge of project management and financial software tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Project, Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, SAP, or similar). 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; capable of producing clear, concise, and accurate reports and supporting documentation. 
  • Ability to maintain high attention to detail and work with sensitive financial or contractual data.  

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Experience supporting large federal IT, cloud, or infrastructure programs. 
  • Familiarity with earned value management (EVM), FAR/DFARS requirements, or agency-specific cost accounting standards. 
  • Experience supporting multi-contractor or subcontractor teaming arrangements. 
  • Skills in business intelligence and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). 
  • Experience supporting audits, government reporting, or project closeout activities.
