About The Chesick Scholars Program
Haverford’s Chesick Scholars Program serves all first-generation and/or low-income students at the college (approximately 24% of the student population) from the summer before they matriculate all the way through graduation. The focus of all Chesick activities is to provide practical guidance for students to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals as part of a supportive community of fellow students, staff, and faculty. All first-generation and/or low-income students are automatically Chesick Scholars, but students can pick and choose to commit to any (or all) of the program’s offerings.
About the Position
The John P. Chesick Scholars Program Coordinator plays a vital student-facing role in supporting the mission of the Chesick Scholars Program through the development and execution of community engagement programs that uplift first-generation and low-income students, while honoring their intersecting identities, including gender, class, disability, sexual orientation, and citizenship/nationality. Reporting to the Director of the Chesick Scholars Program for first-gen and/or low-income students, the Chesick Program Coordinator will assist in the development, planning, and execution of programs for Chesick Scholars, with a particular focus on the Chesick Launch program for juniors and seniors. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Center for Career and Professional Advising, Alumni and Family Engagement, and faculty to support resources for various post-Haverford pathways, including fellowships, graduate school, and career opportunities. This position will also include supporting and developing launch resources and information specifically for our undocu+ students. Evening and occasional weekend hours will be required.
