At Pratt & Whitney, the difference you make is on display every day. Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond?

This position requires regular on-site interaction at the Dallas Airfoil Repair Operations facility.

An RSA engineer is responsible for reviewing and approving a range of manufacturing processes utilized in the repair of aftermarket hardware, including joining, coatings, chemical processes, machining/finishing, and surface enhancement. This role, located in the Dallas, TX area, will focus primarily on approval of coatings (e.g. plasma spray and HVOF, EB-PVD, CatArc, and diffusion) and related processing (e.g. cleaning, grit blasting, chemical and waterjet stripping) and will support a wide range of suppliers, internal and external, domestic and international, commercial and military. The engineer will eventually be involved in the development of newer engineers and peers in their area of expertise, creation of standard work, and may also be involved in approval of similar processes for OEM manufacture of hardware.

What You Will Do:

  • Review and qualification of suppliers' repair processes for both commercial and military hardware to ensure that they meet the requirements of ODA-approved technical data.
  • Interface with appropriate stakeholders (e.g. supplier engineers, Aftermarket Sustainment Engineering, CIPT, Aftermarket Operations, Quality, and Procurement teams), as needed, to complete initial approvals, changes and processing variations.
  • Review detailed process-specific operation sheets, monitor approved processes, review non-destructive evaluations of repaired hardware, review destructive metallurgical testing and evaluations of engine hardware, pilot testing of chemical processes, and analyze material property data.
  • Analysis of data/results substantiating qualification of processes, preparation of documentation and reports, and creation/enhancement of standard work.
  • Address various material and processing needs, and evaluation of gas turbine engine hardware and materials.
  • Conduct periodic review of sources for continued adherence to fixed RSA processes and requirements of repair technical data.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a similar technical field and 8 years of experience in design, manufacturing and/or materials engineering associated with coatings (overlay or  diffusion) and associated processing (e.g. chemical processing (chemical strip and plating), waterjet, machining/finishing, and/or surface enhancement) or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • A Master’s of Science in Materials Engineering is preferred.
  • Prior aftermarket experience.
  • Knowledge of Pratt & Whitney design and quality systems is desired.
