Summary

The Virtual Claims Unit (VCU) specializes in handling claims through virtual means, thereby eliminating the need for a field inspection. Examiners are responsible for handling all investigations and estimating for each claim. The Virtual Claims Unit Supervisor will support the Virtual Claims Examiners as they provide outstanding customer service by managing homeowner’s claims from start to finish, ensuring claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines. The VCU Supervisor will leverage their experience, tools, and our company values to teach efficient processes and problem-solving, policy interpretation, accurate estimating, and customer service that exceeds our insured’s expectations.

What you will do As A Virtual Claims Unit Supervisor

  • This role will have a minimum of 11 direct reports, and the number of direct reports will grow and fluctuate with demand for Claims Examiner.

  • Interviewing, selecting, and developing top talent to meet staffing needs 

  • Sustaining and building upon the team culture utilizing the Porch values 

  • Providing avenues for engagement between team members 

  • Ensuring the team operates with high ethical standards   

  • Collecting and analyzing KPIs for team and individual process improvement 

  • Coaching, training, and performance management of Claims Examiners  

  • Leading weekly and monthly team and 1 on 1 meetings, keeping examiners up to date on company, department, and team developments and individual metrics  

  • Completing claim audits (open, pending, phone, and estimating) and analyzing results for areas of opportunity 

  • Reviewing denied claims for compliance    

  • Reviewing coverage and payments to insureds and vendors submitted by the claims team 

  • Seeking out and utilizing top vendors that improve quality, increase efficiency, and reduce costs

  • Working with other managers/supervisors to share results and communicate action plans 

  • Working with other departments to develop short and long-term strategies  

  • Effectively managing difficult or emotional customer situations 

  • Making decisions and completing activities in a confident and timely manner 

  • Writing and communicating clearly  

  • Taking on assignments and duties as requested by the management team  

What you bring As A Virtual Claims Unit Supervisor

  • Xactimate proficient  

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Familiarity with claims handling guidelines, policies and procedures 

  • Works independently, with the ability to assess workload and plan accordingly to meet competing deadlines

  • Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of General Liability and P&C insurance, contractual policy language requirements and the implications of that language as it pertains to denial of claims 

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education in the industry through licensing or designations applicable to property and liability insurance field is preferred.

Pay Range*: $67,500 - $90,000 Annually

*Please know your actual pay at Porch will reflect a number of factors among which are your work experience and skillsets, job-related knowledge, alignment with market and our Porch employees, as well as your geographic location.
