The Learning Systems Analyst is a member of the Information Technology team responsible for configuring, maintaining, and supporting the university’s Learning Management System (LMS). This role manages system settings, user roles, and third-party tools while working closely with campus departments to ensure the LMS operates reliably and meets technical requirements.

This position provides technical expertise to support campus-led initiatives related to new LMS features, working collaboratively with departments focused on teaching and learning. The analyst contributes to the successful rollout of system enhancements by assisting with testing, deployment planning, and technical enablement, helping ensure that technology effectively supports evolving instructional needs.

The analyst also works with IT colleagues to support LMS–SIS integration efforts, including gathering requirements, resolving issues, and validating changes. In collaboration with the IT Helpdesk, the analyst addresses LMS-related support requests and contributes to knowledge sharing through documentation and user support resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain LMS settings, including user roles, permissions, and third-party (LTI) tool integrations.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to ensure the LMS supports instructional and operational goals.
  • Partner with IT staff to support integration efforts between the LMS and the Student Information System (SIS), including testing and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical expertise for campus-led initiatives involving new LMS features and tools, assisting with testing, implementation, and rollout.
  • Assist with release testing, platform updates, and general system upkeep to ensure a stable user experience.
  • Respond to LMS-related support requests in coordination with the IT Helpdesk, ensuring timely resolution and customer service.
  • Maintain internal documentation, user guides, and knowledge base articles to support training and self-service.
  • Stay current on LMS updates and emerging technologies to help inform service improvements and technical planning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience administering and supporting a Learning Management System, including user management, configuration, and tool integrations; experience with Blackboard Learn is a plus..
  • Familiarity with LMS–SIS integrations and data flow processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting with the deployment and technical enablement of new system features or tools.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working across diverse functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Awareness of trends in learning technologies and their role in supporting teaching and learning.
