Position: Finance Manager

Reports to: Group Financial Controller

Location: London, UK (3 daysweek in London, Paddington)

The Role

We are seeking a technically proficient and forwardthinking Finance Manager to join our finance team. This is a pivotal role responsible for safeguarding the integrity of our financial operations while actively transforming them for the future.

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will take full ownership of the monthend close, lead the annual statutory audit, and manage all tax compliance and the payroll control framework. Crucially, you will be expected to champion and implement automation, leveraging modern tools and AI to build a truly scalable, bestinclass finance function. You will be a key business partner, providing the reliable, efficientlyproduced financial data that underpins our strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & MonthEnd Close

  • Manage the endtoend monthend closing process, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and complete financial statements.

  • Oversee the preparation and review of all balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.

  • Produce the monthly management accounts pack, complete with insightful variance analysis and commentary for senior leadership.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to shorten the closing cycle and enhance reporting quality through process automation and the adoption of new financial technologies.

    • Statutory Audit & Compliance

      • Lead the annual statutory audit process, serving as the primary point of contact for our external auditors.

      • Prepare the statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS or UK GAAP (FRS 102).

      • Coordinate the audit timeline and manage the preparation of all required schedules and supporting documentation.

      • Ensure all statutory and regulatory filings (e.g., Companies House) are completed accurately and on time.

        • Tax & Payroll Controls

          • Oversee all aspects of corporate tax compliance, including the preparation and submission of VAT, Corporation Tax, and other relevant returns to HMRC.

          • Oversee the payroll accounting, performing the review and signoff of payroll calculations, journal entries, and payment runs.

          • Ensure the accuracy of all payrollrelated financial reporting, including the reconciliation of payroll control accounts and compliance with statutory requirements (e.g., BIK, pensions).

          • Liaise with external advisors to ensure optimal compliance and structuring.

            • Automation & Scalability

              • Actively identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for automation across monthend, reporting, tax, and payroll control processes.

              • Champion the use of existing system capabilities and emerging AI technologies to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and enhance controls.

              • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of finance operations.

                • Candidate Profile

                  Qualifications & Experience

                  • A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is essential.

                  • Minimum of 5 years of postqualification experience, with a demonstrable track record in a similar role within the industry.

                  • Indepth technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 102).

                  • Proven experience managing statutory audits, UK tax compliance, and overseeing payroll controls and reporting.

                  • High proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with automation tools (e.g., RPA, Power Automate) or AIdriven finance platforms is a significant advantage.
