Job description

Professional provides product insights to SET projects which are across Personal Lines, Business Insurance, and Life. Requires a good understanding of rating and underwriting (UW) along with business rules. Work with IT, UX, and requirement leads to translate this into a good quoting experience for agents. Analyze enhancements, projects and defects for priority and help with ROIs for them when needed.

Role Description:

A hands on individual contributor supporting this work with guidance from a manager. Need to be able to learnstudy new things quickly and work well within a larger team. Will focus on balancing end user experiences with rating and UW requirements. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders is important. Should have strong excel skills for creating an ROI and doing analysis.

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of product and staff within assigned products or product segments. Assesses profitability, growth, competitors’ strategies, and initiative changes to the products or product segments.
  • Responsible for profitlosses for assigned products or product segments. Takes leadership role in products or product segments (with midhigh level of complexityimpact) as assigned by Senior Product Development Manager.
  • Develops long and shortterm plans for assigned products or product segments with corresponding personal lines staff and field management staff. Negotiates and sets priorities to align product or product segment goals with corresponding personal lines and field management goals.
  • Develops and implements risk selection, pricing and contract changes for products or product segments.
  • Develops and implements new products or product segments. Secures funding and required resources, including senior management approval when appropriate. Manages the analysis and research performed in the development of their product or product segment and its alignment with others.
  • Works with IT and Business Operations to plan system changes and develop requirements.
  • Develops product implementation procedures to ensure an orderly change or rollout. Facilitates through other parts of the organization to accomplish results.
  • Stays abreast of industry developments. Recruits, trains and develops Product Development Managers, Asst Product Development Managers and Product Analysts to cover evolving business needs. Assists product development team in products or product segments of varying complexityimpact. May supervise one or two Product Development Managers I, Assistant Product Development Managers, Product Analysts or Product Specialists. Performs other duties as assigned.

      • Bachelor’s degree in mathematical or statistical field preferred. Masters degree preferred
      • Eight years experience in similar role, or Graduate degree and four and 12 years experience in similar role.
      • One and ½ years experience as a successful Product Development Manager I.
