Opportunity – Tiling Skills Maintenance Technician

At Pier 4 our portfolio of multifamily real estate assets is growing and as a result we are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician with Tiling skills to join our team in, KitchenerCambridgeGuelphWaterloo Ontario. The Maintenance Technician with tiling skills reports to the Maintenance Team Lead and is accountable for preserving the condition of the properties. Requires you to assist in renovating units, proficient in laying tiles according to design specifications, trouble shoot, repair, install and apply preventative maintenance techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Own hand and power tools (they are not provided) and work vehicle.
  • Install tiles in bathrooms and kitchens (floors, walls, and showers)
  • Cut tiles precisely, including 45degree angles
  • Install largeformat tiles with proper slope for shower floors
  • Follow design plans and ensure tile layout is clean and accurate
  • Prep surfaces: clean, level, and apply needed materials
  • Cut tiles and apply caulking where necessary
  • Work with other trades to coordinate installations
  • Keep the job site clean and organized
  • Check finished work for quality and fix any issues
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with all team members in a professional manner
  • Be able to work alone at times and complete projects
  • Collaborate with 3rd party construction professionals such as electricians, plumbers, and contractors when necessary.
  • Ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work orders as assigned.
  • Repairing and renovating vacantoccupied units and common areas.
  • Performing minor electrical and plumbing work as assigned (examples: lighting replacement, replacing toilets).
  • Basic understanding of all applicable laws, legislation and rights concerning residentslandlord relations.
  • Familiar with the emergency operation of electrical, elevator, boiler, fire panel and safety systems, mechanical systems, sprinkler and timer systems.
  • Available for oncall duties, evenings and weekends. Hours may change based on operational needs.
  • Must be able to handle emergencies occurring after regular office hours.
  • Willing to travel toamong various locations within Hamilton Ontario.
    • Education, Experience and Qualifications

      • Proven relevant tiling skills.
      • Strong knowledge of tiling techniques and methods.
      • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
      • Physical stamina and dexterity.
      • Attention to detail and problemsolving skills.
      • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills required.
      • Ability to problemsolve, multitask and remain detailoriented.
      • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
      • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
      • Possess and maintain a valid Ontario G driver’s license in good standing (clean driver’s abstract)
      • Eligible to work in Canada (will be subject to a criminal background check).
      • High School Diploma and 5+ years of workrelated experience.
      • Previous experience in residential maintenancerenovation field.
      • WHMIS training, knowledge of applicable legislation respecting residential tenancies in Ontario and the rights and obligations of Landlords and Tenants an asset.
