Job description

About Caring.ai

Caring.ai is building the future of dementia care with AIpowered voice agents and care manager tools. We help primary care, geriatrics, and dementiafocused providers deliver better cognitive screening, care navigation, and decision support — all while saving time and improving outcomes for patients and caregivers.

Our products include:

  • A voicebased cognitive assessment agent that supports CPT 96116 and 96132 billing
  • An AIpowered Care Manager Copilot that generates care plans and documentation from patient data
  • A webbased portal for HIPAAcompliant report delivery and clinical workflows

    • We’re a venturebacked healthtech startup with signed pilot partners and a growing technical and clinical team. This is an opportunity to lead engineering at the ground floor of a categorydefining company.

      Role Overview

As Chief Technology Officer, you will lead all technical strategy and execution at Caring.ai. You’ll guide product development across our voice agent infrastructure, applied NLP stack, and clinicianfacing platform. We’re looking for a handson leader who can scale early prototypes into productionready systems, build and manage a highperforming technical team, and help shape our roadmap alongside clinical and business leadership.

      Key Responsibilities
      • Own and evolve Caring.ai’s technical architecture across voice, NLP, and web platforms
      • Lead the development of our voicebased cognitive screener and care manager copilot
      • Build and optimize NLP pipelines to:
        • Extract cognitive assessment content from natural speech
        • Analyze sentiment and mood from conversations
        • Generate narrative care plans aligned with DSM5 domains
          • Ensure HIPAA compliance and security best practices across all systems and data
          • Oversee internal and external development resources, including hiring and team management
          • Collaborate with the CEO, care team, and advisors on product vision, clinical integration, and gotomarket strategy
          • Support grant applications and investor diligence with technical documentation and planning

            • Qualifications
              • 7+ years of fullstack engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or founding engineer role
              • Proven experience applying NLP or LLMs in realworld products (e.g., intent classification, summarization, emotion detection)
              • Experience building and scaling HIPAAcompliant cloud platforms (AWS or GCP preferred)
              • Proficiency with modern development tools and stacks (e.g., Python, Node.js, MongoDB, Next.js)
              • Experience working with speech technologies, voice agents, or conversational AI
              • Strong architecture and systems thinking — ability to balance speed, scale, and maintainability
              • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with nontechnical stakeholders
              • Passion for healthcare innovation and improving the lives of dementia patients and caregivers
                • Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
                  • Experience with DSM5, cognitive scoring frameworks, or CPT billing codes (96116, 96132, CCM)
                  • Prior experience building clinicianfacing diagnostic or care planning tools
                  • Previous startup or venture studio involvement
                  • Experience applying AI to healthcare operations or workflows
                    • Compensation & Benefits
                      • Competitive foundinglevel equity
                      • Flexible earlystage cash compensation, ramping with milestones and funding
                      • Opportunity to shape a missiondriven product from the ground up
                      • Remotefirst team with flexible work hours
