NorthStar Care (NSC) is a startup founded in 2020 focused on providing comprehensive, next generation, virtual treatment to patients suffering from Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). The company uses cutting edge genetic and diagnostic testing to create personalized treatment plan for every patient. All patient appointments are performed via telehealth and care coordination is orchestrated seamlessly using NorthStar Care’s mobile app. Peer support sessions are performed from the comfort of the patient’s home using virtual reality for a 100% anonymous experience.

Job Overview

NSC is looking for Peer Guides to be present with patients as they journey on their own path of transformation. The most important qualification for this role is an open mind! We believe healing happens in relationships and NSC is committed to ensuring uncompromising empathy is woven throughout every aspect of our compassionate patientled care model. The ideal candidate has personal lived experience with AUD diagnosis andor treatment, is a veteran, and is able to work a flexible, fulltime (40 hoursweek) or part time schedule, including nights, weekends, and holiday hours. We provide training and mentoring for all candidates who meet the qualifications and demonstrate a commitment and passion for NSC mission and values.

This position is 100% remote and will report directly to NSC’s VP of Clinical Operations. We are looking for individuals who have a flexible schedule and are willing to work evenings and weekends. NSC offers competitive wages and benefits packages, and for this fulltime, 40 hoursper week, we are offering $50kyear starting salary, or part time, we are offering $24hour. Please note: Criminal Record (CORI) does not automatically disqualify candidates from consideration for this role.

Responsibilities

  • LEARN – Be open to questioning beliefs and continual learning.
  • FOLLOW PATIENT LEAD Always affirm that patients are their own best experts in deciding which tools for healing will work best for them to reduce harm in their lives.
  • BE PRESENT Offer individual support and group facilitation grounded in a traumainformed approach.
  • VIRTUAL ENGAGEMENT Connect with patients remotely at least weekly during initial treatment phases either on the phone, zoom, or in Virtual Reality.
  • USE YOUR VOICE – Freely share your lived experience in support of NSC’s efforts to improve care and reduce harm perpetuated in other treatment systems.
  • COLLABORATE Collaborate internally as a member of a fourperson Care Team, and align with company goals for providing compassionate, 247 in home care.
  • SELF CARE All NSC staff are expected to contribute a shamefree experience and are supported to take care of themselves so that they can be present for patients who are suffering.
    • Requirements

      • LIVED EXPERIENCE – Must have personal lived experience with Alcohol Use Disorder.
      • EDUCATION – No specific degree or certification required, though knowledge and training in the principles of Peer Support such as mutuality, healing in relationship, is preferred. All applicants must support a harm reduction approach including “all paths to recovery.”
      • TECHNICAL – Experience andor interest in using tools for virtual engagement.
      • ADDITIONAL Strong verbal and written communication skills.
