Job description

B Consulting is a premier outsourced finance, accounting, and operations advisory firm focused on supporting funded, high-growth startups to mid-stage businesses in the tech, consumer products, retail, manufacturing, and service sectors. We provide founders with financial roadmaps to make smart financial decisions. Using best-in-class software and processes, we deliver peace of mind.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, systems-literate consulting Operations Manager to directly support our clients in improving and executing core operational processes. This role is both tactical and strategic — ideal for someone who can roll up their sleeves to manage day-to-day workflows while advising on best practices and building tools to close process gaps. You will be supporting high-growth organizations by enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring timely execution of tasks, and serving as a key delegate for internal and client-side stakeholders. You’ll work closely with senior leaders to monitor systems, mentor client teams, and maintain robust operational controls.

What you’ll do:

  • Execute and track purchase orders, shipping, and fulfillment, with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness (including same-day requests).
  • Serve in an advisory capacity to clients — identifying operational inefficiencies and offering structured, practical solutions.
  • Mentor and train client-side employees on operational processes, system usage, and best practices.
  • Refine, and enforce internal controls and SOPs for consistent execution across teams.
  • Support clients by monitoring and enhancing existing operational tools — identifying gaps, tracking errors, and proposing improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal team to implement solutions and take ownership of client-facing deliverables.
  • Evaluate current operational performance and proactively diagnose weaknesses or inefficiencies in systems and workflows.
  • Utilize or adapt tools (e.g., templates, trackers, dashboards) to address identified gaps or needs.
  • Work in multiple Inventory Management Systems (IMS) such as Fishbowl, CIN7, and SOS Inventory
  • Work in multiple Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERPs) such as QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Zero, and NetSuite
  • Familiarity with system integrations and transitions is a plus.
  • Serve as a hands-on partner for both internal teams and client operations leadership.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years experience in operations, supply chain management, or business systems roles.
  • Proven ability to work across IMS and ERP systems; adaptable to non-ERP environments.
  • Deep understanding of inventory BOMs (bills of materials)
  • Strong process orientation, with an eye for detail and consistency.
  • Demonstrated success in training and mentoring others in operational contexts.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Able to operate with urgency and accountability, especially under tight turnaround times.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable building light-weight tools or trackers to support operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; client-facing experience preferred.
  • Bonus: Located in Northern California and able to visit certain clients on-site as needed.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with dietary supplement, health, or consumer goods supply chains.

Why Join B Consulting?
You’ll join a small, nimble team working directly with client leadership to drive meaningful operational improvements. We offer autonomy, variety, and the chance to have a lasting impact on client success.

This is a remote opportunity.
