Job Summary 

The Manager, Plan Consulting manages a team responsible for various aspects of defined contribution plan administration. They are tasked with guiding direct reports, overseeing departmental projects, and ensuring compliance with regulations through testing and process enhancements. The role also involves acting as a key liaison between departments, assisting with strategic decision-making, and representing the Vice President when necessary.


Job Responsibilities

  • Assists with overall assignment of departmental goals, tasks and projects
  • Assists with decision-making related to regulatory changes, process improvements, etc.
  • Act in place of VP when absent
  • Liaison with other departments regarding issues that affect both teams
  • Manages direct reports (including creating training plans, weekly check ins, helps with priorities workload & conflict resolution)
  • Provides training and guidance to their team members and across Plan Administration department regarding annual Form 5500 testing and miscellaneous projects as they arise
  • Takes ownership of team processes (including changes, process enhancement & decision making)
  • Performs Nondiscrimination, Top Heavy & Coverage Testing for defined contribution plans up to 500 lives based on documented processes.
  • Calculates retirement plan contributions and allocations, including Safe Harbor allocations, discretionary match, prorata profit sharing, Integrated profit sharing and New Comparability profit sharing.
  • Performs Nondiscrimination, Top Heavy & Coverage Testing for defined contribution plans for MEPs, Controlled Groups or Affiliated Service Groups.
  • Calculates corrective actions for failures in annual testing. 
  • Consults and explain the results of the testing and any required corrections
  • Prepares IRS Form 5500-SF, 5500-EZ and Form 5500 with schedules 
  • Provides plan audit support, including reconciliations and preparation of assets and other plan reports
  • Accumulates data and reconcile assets for conversion plans
  • Performs peer review for annual testing and Form 5500s
  • Completes preliminary or projected testing and provide consulting related to compliance and plan design. 
  • Completes  compliance correction projects as needed
  • Assists with training/guidance of junior team members
  • Exceeds internal and compliance deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned 
Requirements
  • 7+ years of retirement plan administration experience 
  • FT Williams software experience preferred
  • QKA Certification required 
  • Ability to reconcile transactions/assets on the Trust Statement
  • Advanced skill set in Microsoft Excel, must be able to build complex formulas and use V-lookup feature & pivot tables
  • Strong leadership skills, must be able to train, direct and advise team members with various skillsets
  • Exceptional knowledge of IRS/ DOL regulations for 401k plans
  • Excellent organizational skills that are transferrable across multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Self-Starter, highly self-motivated, ability to work independently and problem-solve with minimal direction
  • Advanced listening, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

Compensation Information

The average salary for this position is expected to be between $92,000 and $120,000/year however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We do not anticipate candidates to be paid at the top of the range however, from time to time, it may occur on a case-by-case basis. Other rewards and benefits may include: 401(k) match, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long term disability, paid-time off, etc.
