Come shape the future of commerce built for passion with us!
At EQL, we’re building tools for brands that don’t just have customers—they have fans.
These are the high-stakes cultural moments where passion runs deep, but the experience has often been broken: sites crash, bots win, and real fans lose out. If you’ve ever tried to score Jordans, Taylor Swift tickets, or a footy final seat, you know the frustration. EQL is changing that. We’re creating the world’s first fair launch platform to help retailers manage demand, block bad actors, and deliver seamless experiences that give real fans a fair shot.
Backed by top VCs and angels, we’re solving big, meaningful problems with smart tech and a bold, collaborative team. It’s challenging and rewarding work, and we’re building a culture where curious, kind, and ambitious people thrive. If you want to help us shape the future of fan-first commerce—even if you don’t tick every box—we would love to talk.
The role
We’re hiring a Product Lead to build and own the foundational product management function at EQL. This is a role for someone excited to build the product function from the ground up; defining systems, setting new standards, and turning vision into action.
Importantly, this isn't a PM role focused on Delivery in an Engineering team. Instead, you’ll be responsible for defining how product is done at EQL – establishing processes, creating essential strategy artefacts, and serving as the connective tissue between Product, GTM, Design and Engineering, across the whole product. You’ll synthesise direction from the founders, feedback from customers, and insights from internal teams into a clear, actionable roadmap – translating vision and data into product goals that drive impact.
We’re looking for someone who is practical, hands-on, and thrives at operating across altitudes; able to zoom out to define company-wide product priorities and zoom in to shape individual team rituals, features, and product briefs. You’ll build the systems and habits that make product work in a fast-moving early-stage company.
What you’ll do
Product strategy, goals & roadmap
- Collaborate with founders to understand the product vision and translate it into clear, measurable product goals
- Own and maintain a clear, actionable roadmap that reflects company priorities, evolving customer needs, and GTM inputs
- Provide visibility into the roadmap for internal and external stakeholders, including structured updates across multiple time horizons (e.g. near-term launches, in-flight development, upcoming discovery)
Customer insight & validation
- Build and operationalise a Voice of the Customer (VoC) program that incorporates feedback from interviews, surveys, support, usage analytics, and social channels
- Speak to customers weekly with a view to understand their core problems in Product Launch, their jobs to be done to generate key insights
- Run weekly internal VoC sessions to synthesise insights and drive action
- Define and lead the product validation process—owning discovery, shaping hypothesis-driven briefs, testing assumptions, and reflecting on impact post-launch
Product culture & team enablement
- Partner with Designers and Engineering Managers in product thinking and rituals that foster a strong product-development culture
- Facilitate product-focused workshops and working sessions that help Designers and Engineering Managers apply best practices and strengthen team-wide product thinking
Cross-functional alignment & GTM partnership
- Lead cross-functional activities like roadmap reviews, product syncs, and pre-launch workshops
- Collaborate with Marketing to shape product positioning and messaging
- Partner on pricing, packaging, and enablement efforts to ensure product decisions support broader commercial outcomes
Market & competitive analysis
- Own market research and competitor analysis to inform roadmap decisions and ensure product differentiation
- Consolidate insights from Sales, Marketing, and external research into actionable implications for the product team
Who we look for
We focus on hiring values-aligned people because we believe mindset matters as much as experience. Curiosity, drive, and a willingness to learn go a long way. Working at EQL means embracing ambiguity, being okay with imperfection, and playing bigger than we are as we solve tough problems together. If that sounds like it gives you energy and are excited to grow with us, we encourage you to apply—even if you're feeling unsure.
We believe you’ll succeed in this role if you have:
- Experience in early-stage product management, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment, with a track record of building product systems and practices from scratch
- Demonstrated ability to take strategic direction from founders and leaders and cross-functional teams and translate it into clear product priorities, roadmaps, and goals
- Skilled in running lightweight but strong-enough product development cycles, including discovery, delivery, and post-launch reflection
- Proven success building cross-functional alignment between Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and GTM functions
- Experience working closely with cross-functional peers (e.g. EMs, Designers) in product best practices and creating a strong product culture
- Deep understanding of customer discovery and feedback processes, including how to operationalise Voice of the Customer (VoC) programs to inform roadmap decisions
- Strong grasp of hypothesis-driven product development with the ability to define problems clearly, test assumptions, and measure outcomes
- Comfortable working at multiple altitudes—zooming out to connect product strategy with business goals and zooming in to own details like briefs, rituals, and roadmap hygiene
- Adept at working with GTM teams to shape product messaging, inform pricing and packaging, and deliver clear enablement on what’s coming and why
- Excellent written and verbal communicator who brings clarity to complex discussions and can facilitate strong alignment across diverse stakeholders
