Tate & Lyle Global Shared Services Centre in Łódź is the principal location for handling the business support activities and processes for Tate & Lyle, both transactional as well as value-added business partnering support. Starting operations in 2011 with less than 50 people, we now have over 350 employees supporting operations globally. We have 30 teams operating in Łódź to provide service in the areas of Finance, Customer Service, Procurement, HR/People Services, and IS/IT.
About this role:
IT Specialist – Data - Finance is a new role with the IT Functional Towers, to bridge the gap between Corporate Functions - Finance and IT, working closely with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into data-driven solutions. This role brings specialist knowledge to complex challenges and guides teams on best practises and innovation.
The primary focus of this role will be on understanding complex functional processes, defining data requirements, and contributing to the design and optimization of Finance data/information models and systems.
This role will collaborate with Corporate Functions - Finance stakeholders to understand business processes, reporting needs, and analytical goals.
This role will work in close collaboration with the Data & Analytics team to design and develop data driven solutions aligned to Enterprise Data Model, on the Global Data Platform to meet the needs of the business
Accountabilities:
Collaborate with Corporate Functions - Finance stakeholders to understand business processes, data sources, reporting needs, and analytical goals.
Elicit, analyse, and document business and data requirements for Corporate Functions - Finance applications and reports.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models.
Design, review, and enhance functional data models, ensuring they align with business logic and best practices.
Work closely with data engineers, BI developers, and application teams to ensure data integrity, quality, and usability.
Perform data profiling and validation to support development and ensure requirements are met.
Create and maintain documentation for data sources, definitions, processes, and data lineage, for future reference and team training.
Assist in the development and testing of financial dashboards, reports, and analytics tools.
Support change management, training, and adoption of new data systems or enhancements.
Collaborate on cross-functional IT initiatives, guiding technical decisions and ensuring alignment with company objectives, functional priorities and best practices.
Act as a mentor for junior team members in the function, fostering knowledge sharing and technical development within the team to promote technical excellence and innovation.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in a data analyst, business analyst, or similar role, preferably in a finance or accounting environment.
Deep knowledge and understanding of financial business processes including general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, budgeting, forecasting, tax, and compliance.
Hands-on experience with data modelling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, or similar).
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and relational databases.
Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to non-technical users.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to persuade and influence stakeholders. The role needs to adapt styles, interpret and explain information to different audiences inside and outside the organisation who are not familiar with the subject matter.
Resolve issues that are complex or unusual requiring original thought, research, new approaches and analytical techniques.
Provide advice and guidance through technical knowledge, research and analysis within own discipline, which impacts the performance of the team.
Responsible for achieving personal targets, which can impact the overall success of the team.
May oversee project delivery, including managing project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure successful completion.
