Job description

Catalight is the parent organization leading a family of companies (FoC) that includes Easterseals Northern California, Easterseals Hawaii, and Catalight Care Services (CCS). Across the four non-profit companies, nearly 900 employees work together to responsibly disrupt and transform home and community-based care, aiming to become a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization that proactively addresses complex societal problems, such as healthcare access and improved well-being for underrepresented communities.

Job Summary

Are you a progressive leader, a big-picture thinker, and perpetually curious?

Interested in partnering with our executive team and board of directors to help build the company’s future?

Join us in driving change, shaping strategy, and developing talent. We are seeking a dynamic and modern Chief Financial Officer to advance our mission of disrupting healthcare systems and ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities have equitable access to the services they need, when they need them, regardless of geography, race, gender, or sexual orientation. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare and drive initiatives that dismantle barriers and biases contributing to these inequities by balancing short-term results with long-term sustainability.

The ideal candidate is someone who understands the art of the impossible—the concept that, with the right mindset, skills, and strategies, individuals can achieve goals that initially seem unattainable. Key qualities include strategic thinking, analytical skills, integrity, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and a future-focused perspective, while acting as the headlights on the bus—spotting potholes and potential problems ahead.

We are looking for a leader who will ensure every decision strengthens the financial engine of the business, creating lasting value rather than just managing numbers. Someone who:

  • Able to utilize big data, predictive analytics, and real-time reporting to enhance strategic planning and boost business performance.

  • Recognizes that stakeholders increasingly expect CFOs to manage complex strategic and operational challenges beyond traditional finance responsibilities.

  • Works with the business to create impact and maximize profitable growth.

  • Demonstrates strong board communication skills by effectively informing the board about big-picture issues and presenting new or complex topics.

You will work directly with our CEO and collaborate with the executive team, leading finance, business intelligence, risk management, and technology.

Core Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

The role of the CFO is evolving, and the success profile Catalight seeks includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Inspire Trust: By spreading risk competencies from specialized back-office functions to awareness and practices throughout the enterprise, mastering accounting principles and finance frameworks that measure and monitor the tangible value of environmental, social, and corporate governance assets, and transforming risk from a passive compliance role to a strategic lever for growth, innovation, and resilience.

  • Build Healthy Teams: Cultivate, develop, and motivate a healthy, high-performing team committed to growth, development, and innovation. Actively facilitate employee spaces with charisma, vision, and clarity. Foster creative problem-solving and a growth mindset throughout your organization.

  • Drive Value: Reshape multi-business portfolios by assessing the maximum value each business can create. You optimize the allocation of scarce resources to decide which companies can run better, and where to buy to scale.

  • Activate the Digital Agenda: Champion a finance-led data governance framework as the baseline from which to drive quality and data standardization. Utilize dynamic investment approaches, design thinking, and market speed operating model concepts to drive innovation within the business.

  • Modernize Skills: Foster customer-oriented finance cultures that prioritize partnership and value creation by investing in continuous workforce retraining and upskilling. This involves bringing together disparate cultures of data science and traditional finance acumen, as well as advocating for the integration of emerging technologies such as blockchain, machine learning, and AI.

  • Anticipate Market Change: Future-proof the business against disruption by combining internal and external data to fuel forecasting models augmented by human insight.

  • Accelerate Growth: Effectively partner with the board and C-Suite in the pursuit of new capabilities, products, and services through discretionary investments.

  • Rethink Service Delivery Models: To evolve delivery models, you will need to be well-versed in global business services partnerships as talent resource alternatives, managed services structures for mission-critical activities, and offshore, nearshore, and onshore arrangements focused on delivering value, rather than solely reducing costs.
