The Opportunity

The Dispute Operations Project Advisor II will serve as a liaison, among project stakeholders to understand business process, structure, policies, and operations of the organization with the goal of documenting requirements that will help deliver new and enhanced processes, products, and services. The incumbent is an internal, external, client-facing and/or vendor-facing role which assists in formulating recommendations that enable the organization or business unit to achieve its goals.  Responsibilities include defining business requirements, coordinating complex systems development, integration, migration and/or enhancement projects that streamline and/or automate processes.  The incumbent will also be engaged in visioning, product planning, road mapping, release planning, and defect triaging.  The Dispute Operation’s development or enhancement projects need to incorporate strict adherence to policy and procedures, regulatory guidelines, and Network rules.  

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Participates in the analysis and discovery process for new or existing products/services development, and utilizes industry direction and data to determine customer needs, competitive product and market positioning, and overall product strategy,

  • With minimal guidance, prioritizes, orders, and manages the product backlog in a way that is transparent and maximizes business value and ROI.

  • Helps define, estimate, and scope requirements documentation templates and ensures use of appropriate templates across all projects.

  • Defines product/business requirements and documents user stories and acceptance criteria for the Agile Team, and continuously refines, prioritizes, and validates requirements to ensure a high-quality product/service delivery.

  • Utilizes methods of elicitation, requirements gathering, requirements analysis and solution assessment and validation to deliver complex projects and initiatives.

  • Develops knowledge of internal and external partners business and processes. Understands stakeholder environment, prioritizing and refining requirements to meet the needs of Velera and the client base.

  • Provides leadership in the evaluation of proposed solutions. Ensures initial unit testing of all changes is completed, and further assesses the deployed solution to ensure delivered results meet the needs of the business and or client.

  • Ensures the development of complex project scope and requirement documents are completed and signed off on by internal business partners and clients. Uses an iterative approach, involving business, vendor partners, and clients to ensure needs and requirements are well defined.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science plus 8-10 years related project management experience, or equivalent training and/or experience.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a Project Management role

  • 5+ years of experience planning, scheduling, and coordinating activities for medium to large projects with deadlines.

  • 5+ years of experience understanding the relationships, dependencies, and impact of neighboring business functions.

  • 5+ years of experience collaborating with departments to identify, document and communicate business needs and provide solutions.

  • 3+ years of experience modeling/mapping as-is and to-be business processes and performing current state analysis of existing business processes and systems, applications, and functions.

  • 5+ years of experience eliciting, capturing, analyzing, and validating business, functional and technical requirements.

  • 3+ years of experience in test planning, test case development and execution

  • 3+ years of experience training and mentoring others in business analysis tasks and responsibilities.

  • Experience with both traditional Waterfall SDLC and Agile/Lean methodologies.

  • Knowledge of SharePoint preferred.

  • Knowledge of finance, credit card systems and FD data sources preferred.

  • Relevant experience in the debit/credit card/financial services industry with extensive customer service background. Proven leadership skills, facilitation skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills and executive presentation skills required. Thorough knowledge of Visa/MasterCard Chargeback Rules, Regulation E & Z and 3rd party vendor systems required.

  • Proven knowledge of 3rd party vendor processing system to include on line screens, monetary and non-monetary transactions, dispute cycles including Presentments, Arbitration and Compliance, Product Control File and other system parameters, and the system's more advanced function and features, preferred.

  • Expert knowledge of elicitation, requirements management, enterprise analysis, requirements analysis, and solution assessment and validation.

  • Extensive knowledge of use cases, process maps, data flow diagrams and ability to assist in the creation and documentation of those processes.

  • Extensive knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, functional testing and UAT.

  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, design, and implementation.

  • Extensive knowledge of entire development process, including specification, documentation, and quality assurance.

  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Project, Office, and Visio.

  • Expert knowledge of Velera products and services with experience in an area(s) such as Card Processing Platforms, Financial Institution Systems, Vendor Data Sources (Fiserv or FIS), Payment Solutions, Application Programming Interfaces or others not listed.

  • Understanding of core systems and business processes, applications, and technical platforms.

  • Excellent understanding of concepts of project planning and project management methodologies/ techniques to assist in projects and group initiatives.

  • Exceptional communication, teamwork and influencing skills that foster a collaborative and continuous-improvement environment.  Ability to effectively interface with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.

  • Excellent organization, presentation and facilitation skills are required.  Experience working virtually, across geographically dispersed workforces and with varying groups.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to non-public business, financial and technological information, plans, or data.

  • Ability to listen, understand and respond to external and internal customers’ needs in a timely manner.

  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects, activities and tasks, work in fast-paced ever-changing environment, and work the time necessary to complete projects or meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to think analytically to solve problems individually and in a team environment.

  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in making decisions.

  • Minimal travel may be required.

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
