Job description

Senior Systems Administrator

North - Remote

The Senior Systems Administrator position plays a critical role within the IT Operations team.  This individual will be responsible for managing our Google Workspace set of products, various management tools, along with working with the team on various IT related projects. The Systems Administrator must be a critical thinker, capable of making rapid, well-informed judgments in support of North's business-critical systems.

What you'll do:

  • Management of endpoint devices running Windows, macOS, Linux (uBuntu), and ChromeOS.
  • Monitoring and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide escalation support per request from various sources; investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Management of our on-premise and cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Enforce and maintain corporate security and compliance initiatives.
  • Manage incident communication and escalation.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted parties.
  • Work closely and collaborate with other IT teams to drive security, compliance, and other key initiatives throughout our environment.
  • Work with Identity management and provisioning of users and apps through Okta, Active Directory and Google Workspace ensuring proper alignment with security policies.
  • Apply OS and application patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
  • Regularly update and maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures and documentation.
  • Develop, document, and enforce system standards to ensure consistency and reliability across the IT environment.
  • Mentor Help Desk individuals along with receiving mentoring from senior staff
  • Participate in on-call escalation rotations for 24x7x365 support; evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday on-call work may be required.

What we need from you:

  • High school diploma or GED Required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a system administrator’s role working with Windows Servers in a medium-size enterprise environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with endpoint management software.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working with identity management platforms (e.g., Okta, Active Directory) and core network services, including DNS and DHCP.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience administering either Google Workspace or Microsoft O365 set of products.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting complex IT systems and providing clear, effective support directly to end users when needed
  • Ability to interact with various groups efficiently and in a professional manner.
  • Working knowledge of single sign-on and multifactor authentication. Okta/IDP/SAML/OIDC/OAUTH Knowledge
  • Strongly self-motivated and able to meet objectives with little direct supervision.
  • Windows Server experience 2016+.
  • Must have a solid understanding of Network configurations, tools and security.
  • Strong experience with Mail systems.
  • Solid understanding of Virtualization Technologies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player and self-driven.
  • Passionate about delivering quality results with an overall desire to succeed.

How to stand out:

  • 2 years of Linux experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with endpoint management and administration: NinjaOne and Jamf preferred.
  • Experience with backup solutions: Druva preferred.
  • Google Workspace experience including mobile device management (MDM) across iOS and Android devices.
  • Experience using and managing Atlassian tools.
  • Vulnerability management experience: Tenable preferred.
  • Scripting experience: PowerShell and Bash preferred.
  • Experience working with containers.
  • Experience with email security - DMARC compliancy
  • Security administration experience in Workday
  • Cloud experience working with VPCs: GCP and Terraform preferred.
  • ChromeOS experience in an enterprise environment.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $135,000
