POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager, Code Development leads a team that is responsible for the development of proprietary reactor safety software, performing software verification and validation, and supporting applicability assessment. The Manager, Code Development ensures software products support design certification and commercialization of the NuScale SMR, while also playing a key role in advancing the technical capabilities of the Nuclear Fuels organization in ways that align with strategic objectives. The Manager is responsible for ensuring quality, regulatory, and performance requirements are met during all phases of the software lifecycle, and supports development and maintenance of quality procedures and standards that govern the work. The Manager will spend approximately 25% of the time performing supervisory and administrative duties, and 75% of the time on the performance of technical work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises a team of professional engineers and contractors responsible for the development and delivery of NuScale proprietary reactor safety software and related software tools, including NuScale’s proprietary NRELAP5.
- Identifies opportunities for new tool development, automation, database management, and consolidation of software management to improve quality and human performance, enhance productivity, and implement efficiencies across the Engineering organization.
- Supports software quality procedure development/maintenance and ensures compliance to stringent NQA-1, 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR Part 21 quality requirements. Participates in developing and updating company technical standards and practices.
- Reviews and approves technical documentation including code verification reports, software quality assurance documents (project plan, requirements specification, design implementation, test plan), software support manuals (users, theory) and code development related test specifications.
- Prepares project scope estimates, schedules, budget, and resource plans and manages execution of project scope. Considers NuScale strategic objectives in medium and long-term planning.
- Provides test sponsor direction, technical input, and reviews for test programs that produce code development and validation data.
- Supports code development and validation-related methodology development.
- Participates in development of regulatory documentation like topical reports, license applications, and RAIs, and supports regulatory interactions like pre-application meetings and audits.
- Establishes and maintains departmental training requirements and ensures staff compliance with internal and commercial nuclear power industry codes, standards, and procedures.
- Understands and applies sound approaches and standards for solving technical problems in applicable discipline, and leads cross‐functional projects within areas of responsibility.
- Evaluates performance, administers coaching, and conducts performance reviews. Develops team members’ capabilities in support of individual career goals and team objectives.
- Interfaces and coordinates with internal and external clients as required for successful project execution.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
- Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering. A professional engineer license registration and/or an advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in primary area of responsibility is required, with at least 5 of those years having been in a lead and/or supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with nuclear software development and RELAP5 is required. Experience with other nuclear software development is preferred. Experience with employee conflict resolution, disciplinary protocols, performance reviews, prioritizing work of others is preferred. Proven track record of managing staff from multiple disciplines and coordinating design interfaces to provide design solutions in a timely manner is preferred.

Pay and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this position is $150,537 - $181,683 annually. The full base salary range is $134,964 - $211,098 annually.
