RTX Corporation is an Aerospace and Defense company that provides advanced systems and services for commercial, military and government customers worldwide. It comprises three industry-leading businesses – Collins Aerospace Systems, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon. Its 185,000 employees enable the company to operate at the edge of known science as they imagine and deliver solutions that push the boundaries in quantum physics, electric propulsion, directed energy, hypersonics, avionics and cybersecurity. The company, formed in 2020 through the combination of Raytheon Company and the United Technologies Corporation aerospace businesses, is headquartered in Arlington, VA.

The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:

Role Overview:

The Associate Director of Cyber Solution Architecture (CSA) will lead the delivery of secure-by-design architecture services for RTX Collins Aerospace, acting as a strategic partner to technology and business leaders. In this leadership role, you will manage an agile team of solution architects embedded in digital transformation and technology modernization efforts, ensuring that security and compliance are integrated from concept to deployment.

This position plays a critical role in advancing the maturity and impact of Cyber Architecture across the enterprise. You will represent your Business Unit’s needs within the broader Enterprise Services (ES) Digital Solutions Cybersecurity strategy while ensuring alignment to enterprise standards, architecture patterns, compliance frameworks, and agile operating models.

This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Cyber Architecture, and is one of four peer leaders collectively accountable for delivering CSA services across all Business Units.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead a team of solution architects aligned to RTX Collins Aerospace, overseeing the successful delivery of CSA services across multiple digital initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary CSA partner to RTX Collins Aerospace stakeholders, ensuring alignment of security architecture with business priorities, risk tolerance, and technology strategy.
  • Drive adoption of standardized architecture processes, including Architecture Overview Documents, reference patterns, and secure solution frameworks.
  • Embed architecture and security into scaled Agile frameworks, integrating CSA into agile ceremonies, sprint planning, PI planning, and product backlogs.
  • Support the integration of CSA into Agile-at-scale environments (e.g., SAFe), including collaboration with Kanban Leaders, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners.
  • Embed CSA into key business and digital processes such as CheckPoint, RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM), Cyber Legal and Risk Assessment (CLARA), Cyber Mission Support (CMS), and Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Provide architecture leadership during early-stage solution design, risk analysis, and architecture review boards to reduce downstream rework and accelerate approvals.
  • Partner with CSA and Enterprise Architecture leadership to standardize service delivery, enable architecture governance, and contribute to enterprise-wide transformation.
  • Mentor and coach architects, fostering technical growth, agile mindset, cross-functional collaboration, and high-performance culture.
  • Monitor and report on CSA metrics such as customer satisfaction, initiative coverage, rework reduction, and on-time delivery.
  • Actively contribute to the evolution of Cyber Architecture strategy, agile operating models, and roadmap execution.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • 10+ years experience leading architecture in complex, federated environments with a focus on security and compliance integration.
  • 10+ years of working with secure-by-design principles, cyber risk frameworks, and compliance requirements (e.g., CMMC, NIST, Global regs, etc.)
  • 10+ years experience integrating security and architecture practices (e.g., concept, design, review, approval) into Agile delivery lifecycles, including sprint cycles and PI planning.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • 3+ years of direct team leadership experience, ideally with architecture or cybersecurity teams operating in Agile or Scaled Agile environments
  • Experience delivering architecture services in regulated industries such as aerospace & defense, manufacturing, or critical infrastructure
  • Demonstrated use of architecture lifecycle and governance models, with ability to influence early design decisions
  • Working knowledge of current industry standards and platforms including Zero Trust, cloud-native security, AI/ML security use cases, and secure data flows.
  • Experience with architecture modeling tools (e.g., SparxEA) and portfolio planning platforms
  • Ability to influence without authority and build trust across matrixed organizations
  • Experience building and leading diverse, geographically distributed teams.
  • Passion for mentoring, developing diverse talent, and scaling high-performing teams in Agile environments

What Success Looks Like

  • Secure-by-design architectures are delivered consistently, accelerating business outcomes while meeting compliance and security objectives.
  • The CSA team is fully embedded in PMO and Agile workflows, influencing solution design through early engagement in project planning, sprints, and PI events.
  • Stakeholders recognize CSA as a strategic partner, with measurable improvements in satisfaction, rework reduction, and architecture cycle time.
  • Standardized patterns, reference designs, and governance processes are adopted broadly across initiatives, improving scalability and reducing risk.
  • The team demonstrates a strong culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous development under your leadership.
