Job Title: System Administrator

Job Location: Warrenton, VA (relocation paid)

Job Type: Full time, permanent

Salary: $90,000 – $210,000

Job Description

BCubed Engineering is seeking a Linux System Administrator who is passionate about installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and deploying Linux systems. As a System Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our Linux systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to automation efforts, and support the organization’s mission-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage Linux-based systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security
  • Implement and maintain security policies, including firewalls, data encryption, and access controls
  • Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and proactively resolve them
  • Troubleshoot system issues, resolve outages, and provide on-call support as needed
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides
  • Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to Linux systems
  • Work closely with other IT staff to improve infrastructure performance, scalability, and security
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in Linux systems

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Linux-based operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Red Hat)
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience with virtualization technologies (KVM/libvirt along with ESX)Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.)Experience with security hardening and locking down of systemsExperience with ansible, puppet, etc.. automation related toolsStrong knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex issues quickly
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
    • Certified Linux Administrator (RHCSA, LFCS)
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectivelyExcellent communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical teamsAttention to detail and a proactive approach to IT challenges
    • Windows Active Directory and policy configuration knowledge/experience a plus
  • Security Clearance: Active SECRET Clearance (US Citizenship Required)
