Description

Job Summary

The Field Technician III - Maintenance will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of potable and wastewater projects, heavy equipment, and scheduling services. This is a role that will collaborate closely with the Project Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail. OPERATOR CERTIFICATION(S) are desirable. 

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, performs general maintenance and repairs of utility systems and public rights of ways
  • Operation of vehicles and equipment to include power tools, pumps, mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, etc.
  • Review service orders to determine locations where services need to be performed
  • Read water meters and enter data in route logs
  • Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal, State and local rules and regulations
  • Inspect meters and connections to determine defects, faults and damages
  • Repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service lines
  • Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to immediate supervisor
  • Operates a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for assigned route
  • Connect and disconnect utility services as directed
  • Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly, and kept updated
  • Locate underground utility lines
  • Work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety policies
  • Wear steel toe protective footwear and other personal protection equipment during regular work hours
  • Performs other related duties as directed

 

 

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required
  • 1-year experience in water distribution, maintenance or servicing industry preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work independently
  • Ability to understand water systems and concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to perform sustained physical labor, including heavy lifting and working above your head and below your feet
  • Neat and clean in appearance, courteous and friendly with the general public and willing to be a part of a team
  • Must be available to work overtime and ‘on-call’ as needed
