Job description

The role:
At Royal IHC, we design and build advanced equipment and integrated vessels for the maritime industry. As a Lead Engineer Control Systems, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative automation solutions for critical equipment like dredging systems, propulsion systems, and platform automation. If you have a strong background in automation engineering and enjoy leading technical projects, this is the role for you.


Your job:
Based at our headquarters in Kinderdijk, you will be responsible for the technical quality and design of automation systems for our mission equipment. These systems include customized control software, system architecture, control panels, and I/O cabinets. While experience in shipbuilding or the maritime sector is an advantage, candidates with a solid background in processes like creating IO-lists, writing requirements, and preparing specifications are highly encouraged to apply.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the quality of technical designs for automation systems used on vessels and other maritime tools.
  • Designing system architecture, control panels, and I/O cabinets, with a focus on developing custom control software.
  • Translating customer requirements into basic designs and technical specifications.
  • Advising on best practices and acting as a point of contact for customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Taking technical ownership of the automation process throughout the project.
  • Collaborating with project managers to ensure progress aligns with timelines.
  • ·  Leading one or more engineers, depending on project size, to ensure technical excellence.


Your profile:
To succeed as a Lead Engineer Control Systems, you bring the following qualifications and skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the dredging or offshore industry.
  • Technical expertise in PLC/SCADA systems and electrical installations.
  • Experience with processes like creating AIO lists, writing requirements, and preparing specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A solid foundation in technical English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus
  • Familiarity with standards, safety regulations, quality requirements, and certification processes.
  • A proactive and goal-oriented approach, with the ability to work well in teams.

Only candidates with a valid EU work visa will be considered.

  • A gross monthly salary between €5.700 en €8.110 +8% holiday allowance (based on a fulltime working week).

Selection process:
After your application, a CV screening will take place. If your profile aligns sufficiently, a brief telephone intake with the Corporate Recruiter will follow. If not, you will be informed via email. The selection process consists of two interview rounds. The first interview will be with the manager and a direct colleague. During the second interview, another manager and someone from HR will join. If everyone is enthusiastic, a phone call will follow to discuss the terms of employment.
