🧑🏻‍💻 About the role

First things first: you want to know what you’re actually applying for. It’s impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distill it down to a job description (which we do because this is a job description), it would be this:

As our Senior Payroll Specialist, you’ll own the payroll process across all Mews locations. You’ll manage payroll calculations, employee queries, and ensure tax and social security compliance across multiple countries. Working closely with crossfunctional teams and external payroll providers, you’ll keep our payroll operations running smoothly and our employees supported.

✅ Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

• Be the primary contact for employee payroll queries across all Mews legal entities (Czech Republic, Netherlands, Spain, France, Australia, UK, US, Canada, etc.) – from taxation inquiries to income statements

• Communicate with payroll providers and ensure payroll compliance, including social security and registration matters

• Validate and upload data into payroll systems (SafeguardPapaya)

• Prepare and distribute employee income statements and other required tax documentation

• Verify data for taxable employee benefits and ensure accuracy in payroll

• Maintain accurate payroll records and create knowledge articles to help employees and managers selfservice their payroll questions

• Manage payroll posting and reconciliation processes

• Assist with annual audits and equity management processes

• Escalate issues proactively to ensure compliance and avoid delays

• 🤝️ You’ll be a great fit if you bring a few of the below with you:

  • 2+ years’ experience in payroll, preferably in an outsourcing or multicountry environment

  • Strong knowledge of Dutch payroll (mandatory); familiarity with Croatian and Australian payrolls is a bonus

  • Solid understanding of payroll practices, accounting principles, and compliance requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, Teams)

  • Experience with HRIS platforms (Workday preferred); knowledge of Safeguard and Papaya systems is a plus

  • Familiarity with Jira Project and Jira Service Desk for task tracking and issue resolution

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Organized, detailoriented, and deadlinefocused

  • Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)

  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fastpaced, techdriven environment
