Job description

Reporting to the Junior Enlisted Program Manager, the Junior Enlisted Transition Specialist (TS) serves as a key provider of Hire Heroes USA’s services, delivering high-touch, tailored career coaching to junior enlisted veterans. The TS focuses on the unique challenges faced by junior enlisted veterans as they transition to civilian careers, providing personalized guidance on career exploration, skill translation, professional branding, networking, and job search strategies. Through intensive one-on-one support and structured programming, the TS ensures clients receive the resources, mentorship, and advocacy needed to achieve meaningful employment outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in career coaching, resume writing, public speaking, and outreach, demonstrating a commitment to empowering military-affiliated job seekers on their path to meaningful employment.

This is a full-time, remote position.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to evaluate clients' career goals, employment history, education, skills, and personality traits to develop tailored career strategies.
  • Facilitate in-depth career coaching sessions to help clients identify career aspirations, transferable skills, and potential career paths aligned with their strengths and interests.
  • Develop and refine professional resumes by crafting compelling content that highlights achievements and qualifications, while providing coaching on best practices for improvement.
  • Provide strategic guidance on resume and cover letter development, job search techniques, networking strategies, and interview preparation to enhance clients’ job readiness.
  • Create customized career action plans that align with each client’s objectives, integrating personalized job search strategies and milestone tracking.
  • Leverage available programs and resources, including referral services, training opportunities, volunteer experiences, and federal employment pathways, to maximize clients’ job search success.
  • Ensure consistent client engagement by maintaining regular follow-ups, tracking progress, and adjusting career plans as needed to support long-term employment goals.
  • Maintain accurate client records by documenting coaching interactions, job search progress, and key milestones to ensure continuity and effectiveness in service delivery.
  • Stay informed on labor market trends and emerging employment opportunities to provide relevant industry insights and job market intelligence to clients.
  • Facilitate career development workshops and seminars on key topics such as job search strategies, career transitions, interview skills, and personal branding to enhance clients’ employment prospects.
  • Contribute to program innovation by piloting new initiatives, gathering client feedback through focus groups, and developing content aimed at improving service delivery and career coaching effectiveness.

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of career exploration, effective job search tactics, and strategy, and overall career planning and management
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to translate career topics to audiences of widely different levels of experience and knowledge
  • Strong public speaking and facilitation skills, with experience leading virtual training.
  • Ability to analyze job announcements and develop tailored application strategies.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional project and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, multiple projects, and cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical proficiency in digital collaboration and workflow tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), G-Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets), and Slack.
  • Experience with CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce, is highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability, initiative, and a solution-oriented mindset.

Estimated New Hire Salary: $46,850 - $52,782 annually

Hire Heroes USA may offer additional compensation to include annual bonuses, merit increases, cost of living, special or extra assignments outside the scope of the role, cell phone stipend, internet stipend, relocation, awards, compensatory time off, overtime, and gaining knowledge and proficiency through certifications and licensing.
