Web Platform — Senior Software Engineer

What is The Role

Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Web Platform team, working on our flagship website, Elastic.co. This fullstack role focuses on building and maintaining scalable web applications, services, and infrastructure that power exceptional user experiences. Youll work collaboratively with a distributed team of engineers, designers, and product managers, contributing to both frontend and backend systems while mentoring junior team members and helping drive technical excellence across the platform.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain fullstack features for Elastic.co, with a focus on backend services and APIs (we use Next.js, Express, and other frameworks in the Node ecosystem)
• Build and optimize data integration pipelines, content management workflows, and web services
• Contribute to frontend development using NextJS, React, and TypeScript to create seamless user experiences
• Collaborate with design and UX teams to implement pixelperfect, accessible interfaces
• Lead small to mediumsized projects from conception to deployment, working independently on complex problems
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical tradeoff decisions, using your experience to guide solutions
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing
• Identify and prioritize technical debt, driving improvements to system reliability and performance
• Work closely with SRE teams on deployment processes, monitoring, and infrastructure optimization
• Contribute to API design, data architecture, and system integration standards
• Champion inclusive communication and collaboration practices in a distributedfirst environment

• What You Bring

  • 5+ years of fullstack development experience with modern web technologies and frameworks
  • Expertise in backend technologies and database systems (we use Node.js, Express, Python, and Scala across various projects)
  • Solid frontend development skills with React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and containerized applications
  • Knowledge of API design principles, RESTful services, and data integration patterns
  • Understanding of content management systems and headless CMS architectures
  • Experience with testing methodologies, CICD pipelines, and deployment automation
  • Strong problemsolving skills and ability to work independently on ambiguous challenges
  • Demonstrable ability to mentor others and collaborate effectively in crossfunctional teams
  • Superb communication skills and experience working with distributed teams
  • Commitment to writing maintainable, scalable, and welldocumented code

    • Experience with Elasticsearch or other search technologies
    • Knowledge of design systems and component architecture
    • Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for both frontend and backend systems
    • Experience with marketing technology integrations (CRM, analytics, form processors)
    • Understanding of web accessibility standards and implementation
    • Experience with internationalization and localization
    • Background in data analytics, monitoring, and observability tools
