The product owner is responsible for the ownership and managing of the backlog for their assigned value stream(s), contributes to the product roadmap, understands customer and market needs for the CommandCentral Evidence product. The product owner works in partnership with the product manager and relies on their technical knowledge and background to define user stories and acceptance criteria, engage with assigned engineering teams, and groom the backlog. The ability to deeply understand technical architecture, define engineering behind features, and to translate high level customer functional requirements into technical for development is a crucial skill. In addition, the ability to describe the impact of technical requirements to customers, nontechnical sales, and support resources is a must.
This position will be responsible for filling the agile product owner role for the CommandCentral Evidence product. In this role, the product owner champions the need of the user, customer, and other stakeholders throughout the development process to ensure that what is delivered meets the goals, objectives, and desired outcomes of the project. To be successful, one must manage multiple projects simultaneously, at various stages of their development, from idea to completed feature.
The product owner reports to the product lead.
Responsibilities
Develop strong relationships with UIUX teams and work in close partnership with research and design colleagues
Actively involved in initiative and epic refinement as an integral member of the Product Management team
Responsible for building, editing, and maintaining the team backlog, including user stories, defects, and research spikes
Review and prioritize the backlog as part of the preparatory work for release and sprint planning, including coordination of dependencies with other POs
Contribute to the roadmap
Involved in release planning, reviewing vision, and content presentations to assigned engineering team(s)
Collaborate with team to detail user stories with acceptance criteria
Maintain proper flow of features, user stories, and acceptance criteria in the backlog
Agree on accepted story completion, including validating that the story meets acceptance criteria and that it complies with the Definition of Done (DoD)
Understand the scope of needed research spikes and collaborate with Engineering to assist with decisionmaking and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructures
Collaborate with team and any other stakeholders in the team demo
Participate in the appropriate agile ceremonies
Desired Skills
AgileScrum experience
Understanding of software design, user interaction, and user interface design
Technical knowledge in software development methodologies
Experience utilizing product and project management tools such as Aha!, Jira, andor DevOps
Technical skills and knowledge of Cloud services and development
Align with the enhanced focus on prioritizing and developing important aspects of mission critical products, such as availability, reliability, and stability
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Polished presentation skills for internal and external audiences
Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems
Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback
Ability to take complex user requirements and distill them into a format that is intuitive and clear to developers as well as nontechnical staff
Ability to research and analyze project requirements from various stakeholders
Build consensus among stakeholders
Capable of working independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fastmoving environment
Experience in Law EnforcementPublic Safety is a plus
Understanding of product management and product ownership principles
Bachelors Degree
2+ years of progressive experience in engineering or Product Planning or Product Management
