The Role
As a Principal Consultant focusing on our Process Safety offerings for the United States and Canada (USC) region at dss+, you will assume a key role in driving and expanding our presence with a strong emphasis on developing and delivering impact with our Process Safety approaches. You will be responsible for contributing to the global and USC regional gotomarket strategies for the dss+ Process Safety offering, as a part of our safety & risk services across all of our industry teams, and with all our regional PSM Practitioners.
In this strategic and clientfacing position, you will participate in the entire consulting value chain. This includes quality assurance of process safety centerline deliveries, coordinating the inclusion of Process Safety workstreams in business development efforts, scoping and creating process safety proposals, engaging in PSM project deliveries, overseeing and advising others on their management of Process Safety projects, and fostering account development. You will also be a global thought leader, actively shaping and driving our Process Safety position within the USC and global dss+ safety & risk community, our operational excellence and ESG practices, through our people centric approach leveraging our digital platforms.

Responsibilities will include...
Report directly to Global Practice Director and be accountable for working closely with dss+ Process Safety Practitioners and USC Industry Leads, with a focus on business development, gotomarket strategies, leadingedge growth of the dss+ Process Safety approach, and coordination with our broader Safety & Risk offerings.
Client Acquisition: Identify potential clients through research and network building, work with USC Industry Leaders to scope projects, prepare and deliver presentations tailored to client needs.
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve sales targets. Stay abreast of market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions to innovate our offerings.
Collaborate with the global Industry Teams to contribute to thought leadership, offerings, and methodologies, bringing global best practices to the global market and clients
Act as a trusted advisor to senior client executives, maintaining and expanding relationships in alignment with the account team. Understand client needs and consult on Process Safety solutions that add value to their business
Coordinate with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and collateral materials and deliver Process Safety presentations and keynotes at select conferences.
Who are you today?
You have Operations Management Consulting and commercial experience. You’re most likely a Principal, Partner, or Director in a management consulting firm, and you have an impressive track record in selling the value of Process Safety consulting services. You have experience working in riskintensive industries as a Process Safety business leader, where you demonstrated the positive impact of strengthening Process Safety leadership.
Qualifications
More than 15 years of experience leading and managing Process Safety program elements, with a proven ability to understand client situations and application of bestfit solutions, best practices, standards and regulations.
Proven fieldlevel experience with essential process safety methodologies, regulatory compliance and engineering principles including:
Expertise in conducting Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) using methodologies like HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and SIL determination, as well as QRA (Fault Tree, Event Tree). A comprehensive understanding of where and when they should be applied. Ability to identify performance gaps in the use of these methodologies.
Strong knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA Process Safety Management standard, and UK COMAH, EU SEVESO).
Familiarity with engineering principles particularly in chemical, oil & gas or industrial engineering, as well as standards, techniques, policies, drawings, and processes related to process safety.
Practical business experience working and consulting in a diverse range of industry sectors, such as Chemicals, Mining, andor Oil & Gas. Demonstrated experience in leveraging process safety methodologies through practical application to positively impact business performance through leadership. Experience leading process safety teams in large organizations, function as a business leader.
Strong existing network of relevant senior leaders in many of these industry sectors.
High credibility with the professional safety community.
Exceptional communication skills at the Csuite level, with the ability to effectively drive business development, solution development, and highquality delivery of key services. Equally able to connect with frontline leaders and workers.
Ability to perform under pressure in client meetings and field situations, responding accurately to complex and challenging issues and questions.
Ability to sell “effective process safety management” business cases to senior leaders.
An entrepreneurial spirit, resultsfocused, and adept at thriving in a fastpaced, rapidly growing consulting environment
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemical engineering or other similar engineering or science degree. Master’s degree or PhD is a plus.
