Join Our Team as a Staff Backend Engineer!
Join one of our crossfunctional teams in Motors, Real Estate, OLX Classifieds, or Platforms, working remotely from Portugal. Are you someone who is craving scalable problems and dealing with optimizations?

Youll work with a creative, critical, and wellorganized team from the comfort of your house but as close as we have ever been!

You will play a key role in enabling our organisation to scale efficiently.

Who we are looking for
Big picture thinking. Able to align technical decisions with the organizational strategy and take ownership of technical direction while influencing without direct authority.
Critical Thinker and SelfStarter. Identify what needs to be done to achieve unit goals and take initiative.
Effective Communicator. Explain complex technical concepts in English to diverse teams and influence decisions for greater impact.
Scalable Systems Expertise. Experience with largescale web applications, an economicthinking mindset, and being able to design wellbounded futureproof domain systems, aligned with the business objectives.
You have strong Coding and Computer Science Fundamentals. On average, you will be expected to develop new ideas and review others’ work for ⅔ of the time.
Strong background experience in Golang, JavaKotlin, or PHP (preferred technologies). Flexible and capable of adjusting to changing projects.
Skilled Technical Leader and Mentor: Guide and support engineers by setting a strong example. As a Staff Engineer, you are a role model, leading through your actions and expertise.
Deep Technical Expertise. Skilled in CICD, RESTful APIs, AWS, databases, and one or more of the following: highperformance scalable systems, monolithtomicroservices migration, or taxonomies.

What you will be doing:
Aligning Engineering with HighValue Problems. Work closely with product and engineering leadership to propose initiatives and drive impactful technical changes.
Collaborating across teams, guiding senior developers in managing and reducing technical debt.
Building and scaling Global Platforms. Develop and maintain products with billions of page views per month, ensuring scalability and performance.
Solving Complex Technical Challenges. Work with engineers across European offices to deliver solutions that impact millions of users.
Owning and Improving Development Processes. Participate in product design, write and review code, and advocate for quality, security, and performance with a DevOps mindset.
Collaborating and learning with the OLX Engineering community.
