Senior Software Engineer (Java)

We are seeking an experienced software engineering professional to fulfill a technical leadership role. This position will contribute to and drive technical innovation, partner with crossteam peers, influence and contribute to solution design and software delivery in a multicloud environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop highly available, reliable and scalable modern SaaS CloudBased solutions
• Build, test and deliver microservice microfrontendoriented systems with quality and security best practices using DevOps, TDD, and Platform Engineering techniques.
• • Partner, review and provide feedback on customerfocused software designs and architecture using modern software design modeling tools
  • • Plan and complete complex critical priorities as a member of an Agile team
    • Participate in andor lead domaindriven software design and code reviews sessions
    • Contribute and improve coding and delivery practices using modern version control and analytic tools
    • • Develop and deliver selfhealing systems using modern observability tools
      • Contribute to modernization of systems using containerization and orchestration technologies
      • Partner and contribute to the continued improvement of CICD build and delivery systems
      • Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new innovative technologies and practices
      • Foster a team focus on improving team SDLC efficiencies and quality practices
      • Selfeducate and improve team agile practices using Vertex’s existing Agile SAFE method
      • Drive BuildRun team improvements in MTTD and MTTR for internal and external clients.
      • Participate and improve team practices for Incident Management and OnCall procedures
      • Participate and drive demonstration of product features to program stakeholders
      • • Influence team peers and mentor junior team members

        • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

          Candidate must be proficient in the following:

          Technical

          • Build and delivery of applications and systems on top of AWS, Azure or GCP
          • Software design patterns with variety OOP and functional programming languages.
          • Design and deliver application enabled enterprise eventdriven systems
          • Apply Enterprise messaging technologies like Pulsar, SNSSQS, ASB, andor others
          • Application frameworks such as Java Spring Boot, .NET Core, MVC, etc
          • ObjectRelational Mapping frameworks like Hibernate, EF, or similar at scale
          • Design Open API contractfirst RESTful services versioned and deprecated at scale
          • Distributed Web Apps using JavaScript and CSS technologies like (ReactRedux, Angular)
          • Relational scalable storage using Postgres, MSQL, w TSQL query optimizations
          • NonRelational database technologies and cloud storage like AWS S3
          • Scaling application optimization for Network, Memory and IO performance concerns
          • Observability and monitoring with Open Telemetry, Datadog, CloudWatch or similar
          • Implement application and system metrics like KPIs, SLIs and SLO
          • Containerization and Orchestration with IaC using Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm, TF
          • CI powered Performance, E2E, Functional and Unit testing using TDD and BDD methods
          • Test automation technologies such as Junit, Spock, Cypress, Groovy, Python, Selenium
          • Source security and analysis technologies like SonarQube, Dependabot, Snyk
          • • CD experience using GitHub Actions, Terraform, Go, PowerShell andor Python
            • Exposure to AI automation pair programing with GitHub Copilot or similar
            • Security experience with OpenID, OAuth, Rapid7, Cobalt

                • EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

                  • B.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent education and experience
                  • • 68 years of experience in application development
                    • • Or equivalent combination of education andor experience

                        Pay Transparency Statement:

                        US Base Salary Range: $99,500.00 $129,400.00

                        Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and jobrelated skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.

                        In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a rolespecific sales commissionbonus, andor equity grants.
