Job Title:
Cathodic Protection Specialist (NACE CP4) OnSite Quality Control Manager – Federal Fuel Infrastructure Projects
Position Type:
1099 Contract (preferred) or FullTime Employee
Location:
Remote with required travel to federal project sites. Extended domestic and international travel is required based on task order schedules.

About the Role:
GSI Family of Companies is seeking a highly experienced, NACEcertified CP4 Cathodic Protection Specialist to support our federal fuel infrastructure programs. This individual will serve as both the project’s designated “corrosion expert” and, where applicable, fulfill the role of the onsite Quality Control Manager (QCM). This dualrole position is critical to the quality assurance and compliance oversight of cathodic protection (CP) system repairs and commissioning at DoD fuel facilities.
You will oversee the design, QA inspections, testing, installation supervision, and commissioning of CP systems on underground tanks and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:
Corrosion Expert CP Specialist Duties:
  • Serve as the “corrosion expert” as defined in NAVFAC and UFC guidance.
  • Supervise installation, ensure installer understanding of system layout and industry best practices.
  • Collect and interpret sitespecific data including soil resistivity and coating types.
  • Perform and supervise commissioning, system testing, and performance verification.
  • Train onsite personnel in system operation and maintenance.
    • Quality Control Manager Duties:
      • Maintain daily presence during CP survey and repair mobilizations.
      • Implement and enforce the projectspecific Quality Control Plan (QCP).
      • Review submittals, monitor installation for compliance, and document quality activities.
      • Lead Preparatory, Initial, and Followup phases of QC for each definable feature of work.
      • Coordinate and participate in all QC meetings, safety briefings, and progress updates.
      • Interface with the Governments Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs) on all QCrelated matters.

        • Qualifications:
          Mandatory:
          • NACE CP4 (Cathodic Protection Specialist) Certification.
          • Minimum 5 years of experience in cathodic protection of buried or submerged metallic piping and tank systems.
          • Must qualify as a “corrosion expert” per UFC 357001 and contract specifications.
          • Experience with QC oversight on DoD or federal fuel infrastructure projects.
          • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including OCONUS assignments.
          • U.S. Citizen with ability to pass security background checks, including vetting for base access.
          • Capable of physical presence at sites during entire active constructionsurvey periods.
            • Preferred:
              • PE license in corrosion engineering.
              • Completion of the USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors course (can be completed upon hiring).
              • Prior QC Manager experience on U.S. military fuel projects.
              • Familiarity with NAVFAC policies and UFGS specifications (particularly Div 26 42 13.00 20 & 26 42 17.00 10).
              • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training certification.

                • Additional Information:
                  • This position requires deployment to highsecurity federal installations and compliance with all military installation access protocols.
                  • Travel may include extended rotations on site.
                  • Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Per diem and travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with GSI and federal standards.
