Sr Software Engineer in Test Clinical Genomics

POSITION SUMMARY:

Natera is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test Clinical Genomics responsible for developing and maintaining software automation test frameworks and tools for the Tertiary Analysis platform. This position can be 100 % remote or in San Carlos, CA or Austin, TX (10% onsite, 90% remote).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for maintaining and supporting the test infrastructure for Nateras software systems and components.
• Develop, construct, and maintain test automation tools and frameworks utilizing clean coding practices and functional programming methodologies.
• Perform complete endtoend validation of Natera tertiary analysis software applications.
• Conduct system analysis, assess risks, and develop effective test strategies by reviewing product design and technical specifications, while collaborating with product managers and developers.
• Evangelize new testing methodologies, best practices and tools with goals to continuously improve test coverage through automation.
• Integrate with deployment infrastructure to establish a continuous build and test cycle.
• Collaborate closely with developers throughout all phases of the SDLC to ensure quality in our development process.
• Identify, document, and communicate any failures found during testing to the relevant teams.
• This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and has access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job.

• QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ years of experience developing test automation frameworks and harnesses using programming and scripting languages.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Strong working knowledge of Java and other programming languages. .
    • Recent handson experience with REST API testing and test automation.
    • Recent handson API test automation tools and libraries such as Junit, RESTAssured, Spring, Postman, PyTest, lombok, Allure, MockServer, and others.
    • Extensive working knowledge of relational databases and strong SQL skills.
    • Strong knowledge of Linux, command line shell scripting, Kubernetes, Helm.
    • Shiftleft quality & CICD (GitLabJenkinsGitHub Actions), observability (Datadog, Grafana), and release automation.
    • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, test planning, equivalence partitioning, DevOps, system dependencies, and product integration phases.
    • The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
