The Student Support Coach, Credentials is dedicated to supporting students through the successful completion of non-coursework credentialing requirements. This position plays a critical role in guiding students, ensuring they meet essential milestones such as test preparation, subject matter competency submissions, and credential-related documentation.TYPE OF SUPERVISION:
Receive supervision from the Assistant Director, Clinical Practice.
Supervision — indicates that the incumbent performs a variety of routine duties within established policies and procedures or by referral to the supervisor’s guidelines.

Post timely and informative announcements in the Credential Support Hub (University Learning Management System))
Provide individualized guidance to students to navigate non-coursework requirements and promote timely submissions.
Respond professionally and supportively to student inquiries regarding non-coursework requirements and test preparation.
Identify students struggling with requirements and proactively intervene with encouragement and actionable next steps.

Tracking & Reporting
Monitor, track and record student progress on deliverables such as acknowledgments and documentation submissions using the LMS and internal tracking systems.
Maintain organized, up-to-date tracking logs and generate summary reports using Excel or similar tools. Provide regular progress updates to the Office of Credential Services, faculty, and the Associate Dean, with particular focus on grant-supported students and subject matter competency completion.

Content Alignment & Maintenance
Collaborate with academic and administrative teams to ensure support materials meet current Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and UMass Global program standards and requirements
Continuously update the Credential Support Hub materials and guidance tools to reflect evolving credentialing requirements.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:
High school diploma or GED and at least some college coursework.
Basic familiarity with higher education settings and student support services
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficiency with standard technology platforms, including email, spreadsheets (such as Excel or Google Sheets), and learning management systems.
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Proven commitment to supporting, motivating, and encouraging students from diverse backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education, academic advising, credentialing, or student support roles
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: Ability to use a personal computer, Microsoft Office software, printers, and typical office equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position may be required to work flexible hours particularly given the need to support students’ or stakeholders’ extended hours of operation and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Applicants for this position are subject to a background check and a criminal history review.
