The Team
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Capital Insights engineering teams. You will be part of a team of skilled engineers responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing reporting systems that support our capital markets and lending operations. You will play an exciting role in defining the future state of our reporting infrastructure, driving innovation, and ensuring that our systems can scale to meet the growing demands of the business. You will work closely with crossfunctional teams, including data engineering, product management, and compliance, to ensure that our reporting infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and meets regulatory requirements. This role is perfect for someone passionate about building highperformance teams and creating reliable, scalable systems that deliver critical information to the business in real time.
Position Location This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus, Austin
Time Zone Requirements This team operates across all U.S. time zones.
Travel Requirements This team has regular onsite collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per quarter at an Upstart office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver projects that align with business goals

- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of selfservice tools that enhance the investor experience

- Work with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization and build solutions that improve business workflows

- Develop scalable, reliable systems that meet the needs of both internal users and external investors

- Ensure security, performance, and availability of our critical platforms

- Participate in code reviews, testing, and the deployment of highquality code

What we’re looking for:
- Minimum requirements:
- 35 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on fullstack development, distributed systems, and APIs

- Experience with some or many of the following: Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js, Vercel, Python

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying applications in a cloud native environment

- Experience with microservices architecture and realtime data processing pipelines (Kafka, Spark, or similar)

- Familiarity with database technologies such as SQL and data warehousing solutions

- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams

- Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in capital markets, financial services, or a related industry, with a strong understanding of market structures and regulations

- Prior experience or demonstrated enthusiasm for working on internal tools

- History of thriving in a variety of work environments: both collaborative and selfdirected; remote and inperson

- Experience working with large datasets, data modeling, and building robust data pipelines
