Job description

About us:
SimpliGov is powering the next generation of digital government. Our platform empowers non-technical users to build no-code workflows and digitize complex forms - without waiting on IT. We’re evolving that mission with AI-first automation: making public sector services smarter, faster, and more intuitive.
As part of our SimpliAI initiative, we’re integrating LLMs, vector search, and semantic reasoning directly into our form and workflow engine. If you're excited about building scalable systems and applying cutting-edge AI, this is your place.

The role:
We're looking for a Senior .NET Engineer to help drive architecture, scalability, and AI integration across our platform. You'll build core microservices, modernize parts of our legacy stack, and lead backend efforts in new feature development—all while helping shape how large language models integrate with a no-code platform.
This is a remote-first role with a strong hands-on and player-coach culture.

What you’ll do:
• Design and build scalable, event-driven microservices in .NET 8
• Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems (Razor, EF6) to a modern stack (Angular, EF Core)
• Integrate AI services and LLM orchestration into workflow and form creation
• Collaborate cross-functionally across front-end, DevOps, Product, and AI/ML teams
• Work with massive data in both SQL (MSSQL) and NoSQL (CosmosDB) systems
• Contribute to system architecture decisions, schema design, and performance tuning
• Guide and mentor junior engineers as a senior technical voice on your squad

Tech you’ll use:
• Backend: .NET 8, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, EF6, gRPC, Azure Functions
• Frontend: Legacy Razor & jQuery (migrating to Angular)
• Cloud: Azure (AKS, Blob, CosmosDB, MSSQL)
• CI/CD: Octopus Deploy
• Data: CosmosDB, MSSQL, Blob Storage
• AI/ML: Azure OpenAI, GPT-4o, Vector Search (RAG), Extend.ai integration

What we’re looking for:
• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience in .NET
• Proven expertise in building and scaling microservice architectures
• Strong experience with CosmosDB, async messaging/event buses, and gRPC
• Familiarity with both EF Core and Entity Framework 6
• Experience working with large datasets and distributed systems
• Comfortable collaborating across teams and functions

• Must be eligible for W2 employment in the US
• Bonus: experience with LLMs, vector search, or AI/ML integration

Why Simpligov:
• Work on meaningful problems at the intersection of government, automation, and AI
• Help shape the AI transformation of public sector services
• Lead initiatives that ship real impact, not just prototypes
• Join a culture that values initiative, trust, and technical excellence

What success looks like in 6 months:
• Own development of new features in our automation platform
• Lead AI/ML integration initiatives into our form-building and workflow engine
• Drive architecture modernization efforts across core services

What we offer:

•  Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.

•  Technology and remote work expense reimbursements.

•  Wellness programs, including health club membership support.

•  401(k) with company matching.

• Remote-first culture with Freedom Paid Time Off (FPTO) policy.

• Join a rapidly expanding team at the forefront of digital transformation in government.

• Work with a proven platform that is revolutionizing public sector operations.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability.

The US base salary range for this full-time position begins at $140,000 + bonus + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
