Role: OKTA Security Consultant
Position Type: Full-Time Contract (40hrs/week)
Contract Duration: 6 - 12 Months
Work Hours: US Time
Work Schedule: 8 hours/day (Mon-Fri)
Location: 100% remote (Candidates can work from anywhere in Costa Rica)

Role Overview:

An experienced and highly skilled Okta Certified Security Resource is sought to join a growing security team. This individual will be critical in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Okta-based Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, ensuring the highest level of security and compliance for the enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Okta, a strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of Okta-based IAM solutions, including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), User Lifecycle Management, and API Access Management.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of Okta deployments with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex Okta-related issues, providing expert-level support to users and application owners.
  • Develop and implement security policies and best practices within the Okta platform to enhance the organization's security posture.
  • Integrate Okta with various cloud and on-premise applications and systems, including directories like Active Directory and LDAP.
  • Conduct security reviews, risk assessments, and vulnerability assessments of Okta configurations and related integrations.
  • Automate security tasks and processes where applicable to improve efficiency and reduce potential human error.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of IAM architecture, configurations, and procedures.
  • Stay current with the latest Okta features, security threats, and industry trends to continuously improve IAM solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Security Operations, and Development, to ensure seamless integration and secure operation of Okta solutions.
  • Participate in incident response efforts related to identity breaches or access violations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), with a strong focus on Okta.
  • Active Okta Certified Administrator or Okta Certified Consultant certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of Okta Identity Cloud features and functionalities, including Universal Directory, adaptive MFA, global session policies, and API Access Management.
  • Experience with IAM protocols and standards such as SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SCIM.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of IAM tasks and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat modeling, and vulnerability management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional Okta certifications (e.g., Okta Certified Developer, Okta Certified Technical Architect).
  • Industry-recognized security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their IAM models.
  • Experience with other IdP/IGA tools (e.g., SailPoint, Entra ID).
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and regulations (e.g., NIST, GDPR, HIPAA).
