The platform’s standout feature is a robust comparative rater that lets insurance agents input data just once to generate multiple insurance quotes for their clients. FC aims to continually expand its network of insurance providers by integrating more companies via APIs, making it easy to access a wide range of insurance products.

First Connect is one of the products that Hippo Insurance and SwingDev—a hippo company have been developing and supporting for years.

About the role:
You’ll be the second Sr. DevOps Engineer managing the modern, Kubernetesbased infrastructure behind First Connect. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and developers, to address the needs of different teams. This is an independent position requiring not just strong technical skills, but also great communication abilities, a knack for mentoring and knowledgesharing.

What will you do?Youll focus on strengthening and expanding our scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure as the First Connect platform grows.
Youll help make developers more productive by providing tools, metrics, CICD processes, and other selfservice tools.
Youll play a key role in defining and improving our DevOps culture, guiding and mentoring teammates around best practices in reliability, automation, and infrastructureascode.
Youll have the chance to work with various cloud providers, databases, and opensource tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.
Youll have huge creative freedom and the ability to put your mark on the project, and you will take ownership and responsibility for what you do. This isn’t a “just keep the lights on” role — you’ll shape how things are done from the ground up.
You’ll work closely with the other senior DevOps engineer, sharing responsibility for oncall rotations and keeping the platform healthy.
You’ll have a lot of chances to develop your skills as well as learn a lot about how tech business is done in the US (if you want to).

We might be a match if you…
Have 6+ years of handson DevOps experience and feel at home with buildrelease automation.
Have handson experience with tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and modern CICD systems.
Know AWS well and have solid, practical experience running production workloads on it.
Feel comfortable as a generalist — you’re not just about pipelines and infrastructure, but also open to diving into networking, security, and broader systems topics.
Are skilled in Golang or Python.
Enjoy working in a small, focused, and highly efficient team, in a startup environment.
Are comfortable working with logging and metrics systems to keep things running smoothly.
Have a great command of English and Polish (written & spoken).
Are available in the afternoons due to collaboration with the United States, occasional evening meetings may occur. Rest assured, we prioritize worklife fit, respect everyones private lives, but we still must ensure that communication between the time zones is effective

You will get extra points for:
A foundation in system administration, networking, or security — we value broad technical awareness.
Prior startup experience (1–2 years or more).
Familiarity with GCP.
Experience working in small DevOps teams.
