Job description

This is a remote position.

We are the UK’s foremost independent grid consultancy, specialising in complex grid connections and the design and manufacture of advanced grid control systems.

UK Networks Services is seeking a talented and experienced Senior ICP Design Engineer to join at an exciting time of growth. You will play a key role in establishing and leading a highperforming Independent Connection Provider (ICP) design team, delivering technically excellent and compliant designs for contestable connections across DNO, IDNO, and private networks across the UK.



Requirements
  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of ICP Design Engineers
  • Produce compliant and costeffective HV and LV network designs, including substation layouts, cable routes, and protection schemes
      • Deliver compliant earthing designs and reports in line with relevant DNOIDNO and ENA specifications (e.g., EDS 060012, EDS 060014)
      • Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and other design tools
      • Write technical reports, design submissions, and specifications
      • Create and maintain strong relationships internally and with customers, DNOs, IDNOs, and ICPs
      • Manage the DNOIDNO design submission and approval process and provide expert support for our customer
      • Attend industry events to represent UK Networks Services
        • What were looking for
          • Minimum 5 years experience in ICP or DNO contestable design
          • Proven knowledge of G81 standards, ENA Engineering Recommendations, and DNO technical standards
          • Strong experience with AutoCAD and electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Trimble, or similar)
          • Working knowledge of DNOIDNO design approval processes
          • Experience in earthing design and reports, ideally to DNOENA standards
          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
          • Right to work in the UK We are unable to sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
          • Ability to travel: Full, clean driving licence

            • Key Qualifications
              • Degree in Electrical Engineering (HNCHND considered)
              • Professional Registration is an advantage (IEngCEng)
              • IOSH Working safely or managing safely is an advantage
              • Formal training in power systems modelling is an advantage
                • Please note this role will require some business travel within the UK for client and site meetings, where of course all costs (travel, accommodation subsistence) are paid.
