Job description

About 10 Speed

10 Speed is a SaaS startup building a modern Transportation Management System (TMS). We are on a mission to revolutionize the trucking industry with a scalable, multi-tenant platform that empowers transportation companies to manage their operations with unprecedented efficiency. Our team is small, agile, and passionate about building a world-class product that solves real-world problems for our customers.

We believe in a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning. As an early member of our team, you will have a unique opportunity to shape our product, our culture, and our company's future.

The Role

We are looking for our first dedicated DevOps Engineer to join our team as a part-time freelancer. This is a unique opportunity to take full ownership of our cloud infrastructure, define our DevOps culture from the ground up, and play a critical role in ensuring the scalability and reliability of our platform as we grow. You will be the go-to expert for all things infrastructure, responsible for improving our sophisticated AWS environment, automating our CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring our systems are secure, efficient, and cost-effective.

What You'll Do

  • Own and evolve our multi-account, multi-region AWS infrastructure, including EC2, RDS, Aurora, S3, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.
  • Drive the improvement and automation of our CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure fast, reliable, and safe deployments.
  • Lead our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategy, using Terraform for tenant provisioning and AWS SAM/CloudFormation for application deployments.
  • Build and enhance our monitoring and observability stack (Sentry, CloudWatch, X-Ray) to ensure we can proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact customers.
  • Champion security and compliance across the platform by implementing and enforcing best practices for access control, data encryption, and network security.
  • Collaborate closely with the development team to streamline the developer experience and architect applications for scalability and resilience.
  • Manage and automate our complex multi-tenant architecture, ensuring strict tenant isolation and efficient resource allocation.

Requirements

What You'll Bring

  • A proven track record with 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), with a willingness to work deeply within our AWS environment. You should be comfortable with core concepts like serverless computing, relational/NoSQL databases, and virtual networking.
  • Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Proven experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
  • A solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker).
  • Proficiency in a scripting language, preferably Python.
  • A proactive and autonomous work ethic, with a passion for taking ownership and driving projects from concept to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and a collaborative mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience with specific AWS services like Lambda, Aurora, Chalice, and QuickSight.
  • Experience managing multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Knowledge of database administration and optimization (MySQL, OpenSearch).

Benefits

What We Offer

  • Flexible, remote work with a results-oriented culture. We are open to engaging with you either as a long-term freelance contractor or as a part-time employee.
  • A pivotal role with high impact: Be the first dedicated DevOps hire and shape the foundation of our infrastructure and company.
  • A collaborative and supportive team that values learning, growth, and open communication.
  • The potential to transition to a full-time role as our company scales.

Our Tech Stack

  • Cloud: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Aurora, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, IoT Core, QuickSight)
