Were shipping every product that companies need to run their business from their first day, to the day they IPO, and beyond. The operating system for folks who build software.
We started with opensource product analytics, launched out of Y Combinators W20 cohort. Weve since shipped more than a dozen products, including:
A builtin data warehouse, so users can query product and customer data together using custom SQL insights.
A customer data platform, so they can send their data wherever they need with ease.
Max AI, an AIpowered analyst that answers product questions, helps users find useful session recordings, and writes custom SQL queries.
Default alive. Revenue is growing 10% MoM on average, and were very efficient. We raise money to push ambition and grow faster, not to keep the lights on.
Wellfunded. Weve raised more than $100m from some of the worlds top investors. Were set up for a long, ambitious journey.
Were focused on building an awesome product for end users, hiring exceptional teammates, shipping fast, and being as weird as possible.
Transparency: Everyone can read about our roadmap, how we pay (or even let go of) people, our strategy, and how we work, in our public company handbook. Internally, we share revenue, notes and slides from board meetings, and fundraising plans, so everyone has the context they need to make good decisions.
Autonomy: We donβt tell anyone what to do. Everyone chooses what to work on next based on whats going to have the biggest impact on our customers, and what they find interesting and motivating to work on. Engineers lead product teams and make product decisions. Teams are flexible and easy to change when needed.
Shipping fast: Why not now? We want to build a lot of products; we cant do that shipping at a normal pace. Weve built the company around small teams β autonomous, highlyefficient groups of cracked engineers who can outship much larger companies because they own their products endtoend.
Time for building: Nothing gets shipped in a meeting. Were a natively remote company. We default to async communication β PRs > Issues > Slack. Tuesdays and Thursdays are meetingfree days, and we prioritize heads down building time over perfect coordination. This will be the most productive job youve ever had.
Being weird: Weird means redesigning an already worldclass website for the 5th time. It means shipping literally every product that relates to customer data. It means building an objectively unnecessary developer toy with dubious shareholder value. Doing weird stuff is a competitive advantage. And its fun.
Growth mindset: Youll be obsessed with finding new opportunities. Pages we should improve. Lowhanging SEO opportunities. ChatGPT prompts we should be cited in. Nothing will motivate you more than finding an opportunity, creating content for it, and measuring the impact of your work.
Tuned into new trends: The game is changing. Youll be dialed into the changing landscape of SEO GEO. New tools we should be using. Tactics we should employ. How to measure success.
Good taste: We care about quality. We want a strong writer and editor who understands the difference between good and great content, and how to structure their work in a way that works as well for people as crawlers and agents.
Owning topoffunnel content: This means writing, editing, and commissioning content that will increase awareness of PostHog, our products, and new launches. This could include highintent landing pages like the best opensource analytics tools, product comparisons, or indepth guides.
Supporting product launches: If theres a new product or feature to shout about, theres a good chance youll be involved in either writing and editing the content to support it, or coming up with the content plan for that launch. Examples include session replay pricing and our Series D fundraise announcement.
Performance monitoring: Youll be on top of how our content is performing, unexplained drops in the traffic, what content converts to intent andor conversions, and feeding that context to the team in an actionable way.
Maintaining existing content: We have a long tail of content that needs regular maintenance to keep uptodate and visible in search engines. Youll need to assess how to prioritize this work, and strong takes on how to improve everything incrementally.
Informing best practices: Whether its internal linking, or how we organise and tag content, we want some who will drive standards upwards in every area.
Strong SEO knowledge: You need to be familiar with popular tools, like Ahrefs, Google Search Console, and the new AI visibility platforms, as well as onpage and offpage best practices.
Good writing and editing skills: Modern content marketing is all about being partwriter and editor and partanalyst. Its fine if youre stronger in one area than the other, and we can help you develop in all areas, but writing skills are nonnegotiable.
Analytics expertise: It doesnt matter so much what youve used in the past, just that you know what youre looking for. We use PostHog for all our analytics, but experience using any modern analytics tool will be helpful.
Nice to haves
Technical SEO fundamentals: This is mostly a content + analyst role, but a little technical knowledge (e.g. understanding crawl budgets, serverside vs clientside rendering, etc.) will be a very useful bonus.
Already familiar with PostHog: Not necessary, but definitely useful. We use PostHog for everything.
Social media skills: Writing for social media isnt a part of this role, but itll be useful if you can contribute here.
Experience managing freelancers and agencies: We dont currently work with external content contributors, but we dont rule it out.
Experience at similar companies: Were interested in people from any content background, but experience working at B2B SaaS startups and scaleups is a plus, especially if youve written for a software developer audience before.
We believe people from diverse backgrounds, with different identities and experiences, make our product and our company better. Thatβs why we dedicated a page in our handbook to diversity and inclusion. No matter your background, wed love to hear from you!
Also, if you have a disability, please let us know if theres any way we can make the interview process better for you were happy to accommodate.
