Senior Director, National Defense and Security, CIO Analyst and Thought Leader

Gartner is seeking a Europeanbased analyst for emerging technology and data to support national defense and security CIOs in advancing modernization and digital transformation.

Successful candidates must have senior technology or data leadership experience within EMEA or NATO defense or intelligence agencies, and possess deep expertise in digital and AI strategies, programs, and policies related to national defense—particularly within European defense, NATO, and their global technology partners and suppliers.

About This Role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create musthave research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of worldleading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory business, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, andor global levels. Using exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to mission critical priorities. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day. They engage via inperson meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

This analyst role sits within Gartner’s CIO and AI Leaders Research, Government and Education Practice. The analyst will support CIOs and other technology executives in accelerating national defense modernization and innovation. As geopolitical uncertainties and disruptive forces impact defense organizations and their allies and partners, this role will focus on the use of emerging technologies and data to support operational resilience, multidomain integration and interoperability, and workforce readiness.
