The SQL Database Administrator plays a vital role in ensuring the sustainability and growth of EML by supporting our Software Development capability. Working closely with the Product Manager and other Database Managers, you will be responsible for implementing, configuring, maintaining, and optimising critical SQL Server RDBMS systems to ensure performance, security, and reliability.

This will be a full time. fixed term 12 month contract based in the Sydney office (with the view to be made permanent), with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.
 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain optimal database performance, availability, security, and long-term sustainability. 
  • Identify and resolve issues in real time to keep systems running smoothly. 
  • Offer practical solutions and recommendations for continuous improvement. 
  • Automate routine processes, track issues, and document system changes. 
  • Support developers with query optimisation and schema enhancements. 
  • Manage and optimise Power BI reporting in a cloud environment.

ABOUT YOU

  • 4+ years hands-on experience in SQL Server Administration
  • 2+years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
  • Monitor and optimize database performance using index tuning, dvm and other methods.
  • Managing High Availability (HA) databases, database backups and disaster recovery
  • Design and develop SSIS packages for data transformation, loading, and extraction. Experience in supporting batch interfaces via SSIS.
  • Create and implement database solutions (tables, stored procedures, etc.) and manage data migrations from legacy systems to new platforms.
  • Experience in financial data reporting, data migrations, analysis, and standardisation, with strong database design and SQL Server development skills.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Aurora, RDS, Redshift, Dynamo DB, or MongoDB.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Agile processes, and tools like Visual Studio and SQL Server would be a plus
