About the client:Are you ready to take on a key leadership role in a growing family and estate planning law firm? Our client is a small business looking to hire a remote Case Manager (with family law background) for their law firm.
About the position:Our client is seeking an experienced Case Manager (family law background) to oversee and streamline our case management processes, working closely with the owner to ensure a seamless operation of our legal team. This role is perfect for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with significant experience in case management and paralegal work. Your primary goal is to support our attorneys by managing cases and caseloads. You will assign tasks to Attorneys and paralegals, ensuring calendar deadlines and case milestones are added to the firm's master calendar and specific case management spreadsheets to ensure no missed deadlines and cases move forward. As our Case Manager, you will provide quality legal services to our clients at a lower billable rate than a Attorney, and by doing so, benefits both the firm and our clients. You will meet the minimum billable requirement set by the firm and report on progress toward achieving assigned goals.
Main Responsibilities: (Additional day-to-day tasks will be discussed during the interview process.)
Review legal documents to ensure compliance with all legal requirements
Support attorneys in all aspects of case management, including billing, tracking deadlines, and scheduling reminders
Prepare legal documents for attorney review and coordinate with staff, clients, and outside vendors to manage caseloads
Ensure deadlines are met, and cases progress through the pipeline efficiently
Maintain organized case files (both electronic and physical) that are in line with the firm policies
Manage court preparation ensuring attorneys have everything they need well in advance
Take initiative to resolve minor case-related issues independently
Oversee weekly case status meeting and provide updates on case progress
Handle document collection, organization, and assembly for court or transaction filings
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for the legal team
Manage the workflow and workload of support staff
Conduct interviews and assist in hiring support team members
Act as a liaison between the owner and the broader firm team
Requirements
Highly organized and effective communicator with a love for systems and processes
Minimum 2 years of case management experience
Someone confident and positive who thrives in a fast-paced environment
Minimum of 2 years of legal professional experience who has managed cases independently, lead a team, and keeps everything on track without micromanagement
Minimum of 2 years law paralegal experience (this is non-negotiable)
