Job description

This is a remote position.

Venteck is a software development organization with private and public cloud systems. Our request is a challenging job as our blend of Network engineers must have good skills and be looking for a long term position. Network support engineers focus on user needs and system requirements to design, set up, and maintain a business's computer networks. Whether it’s done in-house or for clients, engineers will gather data on systems, routers, and other hardware to build and manage fully operational networks.

Responsibilities:

The Network Communications Administrator is responsible for the IT core network communications infrastructure's implementation, day-to-day availability, integrity, and security. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing voice, data, and wireless communications systems and establishing and maintaining the backup of configurations to those systems. This includes ensuring business continuity, security, disaster recovery, and maintaining IT voice, data, and wireless network infrastructure hardware and software.

Job Duties:

Provide operational and technical support for the communications network infrastructure and our software development team. Collaborate with the team to design, implement, manage, and maintain the voice, data, and wireless communications infrastructure. Work with the Director of Network Communications to prioritize network-related projects, system maintenance, and end-user support for network communications equipment. Ensure the safety and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services using firewall security best practices.

Create and maintain network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records documentation. Manage and maintain the network communications hardware and software inventories. Ensure that the technical support staff have been trained and updated to help support the primary network communications-related issues and concerns from end-users. Propose services, applications, and procedures to improve or assist with business processes that rely on these network communications systems.

Meet with vendors, outsources, and contractors to secure hardware, software, support, and other professional services. Assist with developing the IT infrastructure strategy and long-term planning based on institutional objectives with the IT leadership team. Ensure that change management processes and procedures are up-to-date and being followed. Manage documentation of IT standard operating procedures and network/system diagrams for the organizations. Collaborate with IT leadership and staff to enhance IT services for our community, including our customers. Contribute to Venteck’s team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned by the IT Leadership team.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other appropriately related field, or equivalent work experience

Demonstrated experience in the management of voice, data, and wireless networking environments

Demonstrated ability to work together with technical and non-technical staff

What Are The Roles And Responsibilities Of A Network Support Engineer?

The roles and responsibilities of a Network Support Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactive network management

  • Providing primary backup for networks, should they fail

  • Ensuring the effective administration of a new business network

  • Performing troubleshooting on all programs when required

  • Preparing post-mortem reports and performing trend analysis when there are system failures

  • Developing proposals and helping to finalize opportunities that reduce expenses

  • Developing and maintaining all of the comprehensive paperwork associated with the implemented network

  • Assisting other departments when it comes to localized issues

  • Coordinating with various departments to help build a Linux network design that runs smoothly

  • Managing all of the technical network resources for both projects and the business as a whole

  • Assisting and providing consultancy services to clients (should it be required)

  • Supervising and ensuring there is an optimal level of technical backup at all times

  • Administering and ensuring project completion


Requirements

Network Systems Administrator Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as IT, computer science, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university (6 years experience in lieu of degree)
  •  CCNA Certification Preferred
  • Microsoft Certifications Preferred
  • 8570 Compliant IAT Level II or greater. Security+, CISSP or other equivalent certification is required
