The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic, hands-on executive responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations of HMBC. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the CFO will play a critical role in shaping the financial direction of the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence across all departments.
Lead and manage all accounting and finance functions across the organization
Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Oversee corporate budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Manage and cultivate relationships with banks and other financial institutions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
Lead tax planning, filing, and liaise with relevant federal and state tax agencies
Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness
Oversee regulatory financial reporting, including submissions to the Department of Insurance and other agencies
Provide financial analysis and reports to external evaluators such as A.M. Best to support company ratings
Deliver clear, data-driven reporting to the Board of Directors
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Claims, Marketing, Underwriting, IT, etc.) to optimize financial operations and performance
Recommend and implement cost-saving strategies and process improvements
Lead initiatives related to financial systems, technology, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
Evaluate and improve automated accounting processes, recommending and implementing automation to increase efficiency and accuracy
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a closely related field
CPA designation strongly preferred
Minimum of [insert years] of progressive financial leadership experience

Strong experience in automated accounting systems and financial technologies; able to assess and enhance current systems for increased efficiency through automation
Experience in the property & casualty insurance industry highly desirable
Knowledge of premium accounting, reserves, and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) preferred
Proficiency in Power BI and other modern financial reporting tools
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills
