Job description

Summary

Pixion’s globally distributed, fully remote team is searching for an experienced UI/UX Designer. You will play a pivotal role within the close-knit studio, developing mobile games from concept validation to global launch and liveops.

We're proud to be developing Fableborne, a hybrid midcore game that blends strategy with ARPG raiding. In this asynchronous competitive game, players engage in snackable, action-packed PvE combat while raiding each other's Kingdoms. Watch our latest season’s trailer HERE!

In the UI/UX Designer position, you will focus on designing the user experience and user interfaces for core game progression, core gameplay, liveops, website, blockchain and monetisation features. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the player journeys and the success of Fableborne, leaving a lasting impact in designing a new game players will enjoy for years.

Are you ready to embark on the exciting Shatterlands adventure with us? Apply now and help us create unforgettable competitive gaming experiences!

Your Experience
  • You have led the direction and growth of a cross-platform design system. You know how to lead a design system that captures the game’s essence, and can translate it into multiple mediums and input methods.
  • You have advanced technical knowledge, and have been in the problem-solving trenches, with Unity and Figma. Working with these tools is like a brain extension.
  • Previous experience in lead or senior UI/UX designer role, with a focus on midcore and mobile free-to-play titles.
  • Your expertise with Unity includes UI, animations and mastered knowledge of Unity production pipeline so you can implement end-to-end solutions integrated with the engineering and technical art pipeline.
  • You have a good grasp of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and proven experience and senior expertise in UI design, including the design of visuals, iconography, buttons, and menus.
  • Meticulous and clear organization of wireframes UX flows, making it easy for anyone to find the right information. Information clarity and organization is highly valued. Us as designers serve the development team rather than our preferred process.
  • You understand how second-to-second action games feel to lead UI/UX solutions that support mobile twitch-skill gameplay. This can be via previous work experience or because you’re a superfan player of ARPG mobile games.
  • You are aligned that complex midcore games need a UI/UX approach to casual-fi and make even complex interactions delightful. Performing a simple character upgrade is capable of creating butterflies in stomach feelings.
  • Not looking for role title, please apply based on the responsibilities you had and not formal job titles.
Responsibilities

Pixion Games culture is of ownership, accountability and making data-informed decisions. You will have the opportunity to create hypotheses, prototype solutions, and gather data to validate and iterate. We strive to balance decision-making with quantitative, qualitative and creative inputs via stealth performance marketing tests, community and team playtests.

  • You will lead the direction and growth of a cross-platform design system, including its graphic design. The mobile game, webshop, blockchain web platform, and marketing website are all Fableborne so the player never feels like they’ve left the game world.

  • Mentor and collaborate with UI/UX designers. Whilst this role takes lead on the design system, the team has a flat structure when it comes to design lead ownership. Your role is to mentor and support, to coach the highest quality design.

  • Collaborate with product director and game designers to align on GDD intentions, desired player feel, and early to late-stage production feedback cycles. We collaborate closely as a design team to execute the best player experience, and complexity simplification.

  • Perform internal and external UX research to receive early feedback on the intuitiveness of your solutions. We rely on team members who are unfamiliar with the design, and we have access to a community of passionate players who help shape the game.

  • Design UI/UX for core gameplay, core progression, game liveops, website, blockchain and monetisation features.

  • Design responsibilities include preparing and configuring UI elements in Unity, wireframes, interactive prototypes, collating player experience references (sounds and visuals), documentation, and file organization.

Working Hours and Location
  • EU working hours from +3h GMT / -3h GMT.

  • Commitment to work within core hours of 9:30am GMT/BST to 4pm GMT/BST.
