The Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program equips educators from the United States to bring an international perspective to their schools through targeted training, experience abroad, and global collaboration. This yearlong professional learning opportunity for K-12 educators features an intensive online course, global education symposium in Washington, DC, short international exchange, and capstone project.
IREX is soliciting expression of interest applications for a co-facilitator/instructor of the online global education professional development course. The ten-week online course provides foundations in global education for Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program participants. The goal of the online course is to introduce theory and rationale for global education and to provide specific, skill-based professional development in the areas of unit planning, pedagogy, international project collaboration, leadership, and community engagement. This role offers part-time employment as an independent contractor from September 2025-August 2026 (approximately). Hiring is contingent on funding availability.
Desired Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in K-12 education/consulting (Required: at least 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher, school administrator, or directly in K-12 professional development);
Experience designing and conducting professional development training for educators in-person and using online and virtual technologies;
Broad knowledge of, and experience with, computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; professional learning platforms like Canvas or Google Classroom; as well as other educational web-based and social networking tools;
Ability to work independently, proactively, and with strong attention to detail and record-keeping;
Professional and enthusiastic communication skills with clients; and
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Duties:
The Online Course Instructor will work with IREX and co-facilitators/instructors to:
Provide content updates and develop new content for the online course syllabus, weekly discussion questions, and assessment tools.
Implement weekly online sessions, postings, and discussion questions.
Provide substantive written feedback to course participants via Canvas.
Facilitate guest faculty webinars and manage guest faculty teaching materials.
Write final course report according to guidelines provided.
Travel to, participate in, and support facilitation of the Global Education Symposium in Washington, DC (February 2026). This may include the development and facilitation of a workshop during the event.
