We are seeking a Senior Azure AVS Migration Consultant to lead large-scale VMware to Azure/AVS migration programs, with a deep focus on cloud networking, AVS architecture, Terraform automation, and enterprise landing zone deployment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in architecting hybrid cloud solutions, designing secure network boundaries, and implementing infrastructure as code using Terraform integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and deploy AVS networking architecture, including NSX-T segments, security zones, and route redistribution via BGP.
Configure ExpressRoute (Global Reach or direct) for on-premises to AVS connectivity.
Implement HCX for network extension and workload migration from on-premises VMware to AVS.
Integrate AVS with DNS/DHCP and firewall policies, ensuring compliance and operational continuity.
Architect and deploy Azure Landing Zones with hub-and-spoke topology using Azure VWAN or custom VNet Hubs.
Design and implement network segmentation, NSGs, route tables, and traffic flow (east-west/north-south).
Develop and maintain modular Terraform IaC for provisioning hub, spokes, AVS, firewalls, and routing components.
Integrate Terraform modules into CI/CD pipelines for consistent environment promotion and automation.
Lead discovery and design workshops to define IP plans, firewall policies, routing strategy, and segmentation.
Produce comprehensive documentation (HLD/LLD) for network architecture, landing zones, and AVS configurations.
Execute migration of ~540 VMs using VMware HCX, coordinating cutover from on-prem to Azure.
Configure monitoring, alerting, and backup solutions (Rubrik) for AVS workloads.
Manage legacy VMware decommissioning after successful migration and signoff.
Build and execute migration wave plans, coordinating cutover activities and validating connectivity.
Drive program-level planning, stakeholder communications, and executive reporting throughout the engagement.
Qualifications
Deep expertise in Azure networking, AVS architecture, and VMware HCX migration.
Strong knowledge of NSX-T, ExpressRoute, BGP, and cloud routing.
Hands-on experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.)
Proven track record of designing and deploying Azure Landing Zones.
Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, DNS/DHCP integration, and Azure Firewall.
Working knowledge of Azure Monitor, Key Vault, and Rubrik backup.
Ability to run executive-level meetings and manage stakeholder communication.
Certifications: AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-700, VMware VCP, or AVS Specialty
Experience in managing large-scale cloud migration programs (500+ VMs).
Familiarity with compliance and governance frameworks for cloud deployments.
