Job description

This is a remote position.

Assistant Accountant

Join a leading nursing home operator and owner, playing a crucial role in maintaining precise financial records. This position centers on routine but critical accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, and depreciation calculations. If you have solid accounting fundamentals and thrive in a structured, high-volume environment, this is a great opportunity to contribute to a stable and mission-driven healthcare organization.

What You'll Do:
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure supporting documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Review and adjust accruals to align expenses with the correct accounting periods.
  • Categorize and reclassify transactions as needed, applying proper accounting principles.
  • Calculate and record depreciation for fixed assets, including a high volume of beds.
  • Analyze ledger details and identify discrepancies to support timely issue resolution.
  • Perform journal entries and support monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare financial statements and audit schedules as needed.
  • Assist with ongoing process improvements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Who You'll Work With:

Be an integral part of a collaborative, international accounting team, ensuring financial accuracy and operational consistency across a large U.S.-based nursing home network. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals in healthcare finance and initially report to Josh Krupnick during onboarding, then transition to an internal accounting manager for day-to-day guidance and support.

Who We're Looking For:
  • Accounting Fundamentals: Strong understanding of balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and core accounting principles.
  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Able to analyze financial data, identify issues, and resolve discrepancies with care and accuracy.
  • Organized: Skilled at managing routine tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Technically Skilled: Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables, SUMIFS, XLOOKUP, and dynamic array formulas.
  • Tech-Savvy: Experience with accounting software is expected. Familiarity with Intacct is a strong plus.
  • Great Communicator: Strong English written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
  • Experience: General work experience is required. Experience in U.S. nursing home or healthcare accounting is a plus, but not necessary.
Why Join Us?
  • Impact: Play a vital role in keeping financials clean and audit-ready, directly supporting healthcare operations across the U.S.
  • Culture: Join a supportive and professional team that values accountability, clear communication, and continuous improvement. You'll receive structured onboarding and training tailored to company-specific tools and workflows.
  • Benefits:
    • Enjoy preset salary growth and weekly salary payments.
    • 100% work-from-home flexibility.
    • Employees will receive a 50-cent per hour increase every six months for the first two years, paid directly by the company.
Work Details:
  • Schedule: Mon - Fri 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM EST (flexible within 1–2 hours)
