Head of Data

Rhino + Jetty is making housing more affordable and accessible for millions of renters every year. We recently merged Rhino and Jetty to become the leading real estate platform with a mission to improve the financial lives of renters and their property managers. 

In 2024, R + J expanded its platform with end-to-end deposit management, streamlining how security deposits and insurance solutions are administered. Today, our comprehensive suite of products – including security deposit insurance, cash security deposit management, lease guarantees, renters insurance, and loss of employment insurance – continues to transform the renting experience, making moving easier, more affordable, and more transparent for all.

The Head of Data will be a key member of R+ J’s Technology team and will report directly to the CTO.

In this role, you will:

• Lead a nimble, high-impact data team including data engineers and analysts while maintaining hands-on technical contributions
• Own the entire data pipeline from warehouse to internal dashboards to external reporting, ensuring consistency and reliability across our data stack
• Drive strategic data infrastructure decisions and vendor selections to support company growth and a self-service analytics culture
• Partner closely with the Risk team to build structured, repeatable insurance reporting processes, including actuarial and bordereau reports
• Consolidate currently siloed analysis across the organization, creating unified reporting standards and data accessibility
• Enable self-service analytics capabilities across the company while maintaining data governance and quality standards
• Collaborate with the CTO and cross-functional teams to align data strategy with business objectives and technical roadmap

We’re ideally seeking:

• Experience leading a data org as a player-coach in a high-velocity environment
• Hands-on experience with the full data stack: data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery), dbt, ETL tools (e.g. Fivetran, Stitch, Airflow), and BI platforms (e.g. Tableau, Looker)
• Background in fintech or insurtech with experience maintaining financial product reporting (e.g. actuarial reports, loan tapes)
• Experience managing and mentoring data engineers and analysts while contributing meaningful individual contributor work
• Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and meet each organization's data needs

Benefits:

Base Salary Range: $200,000 - $225,000

Rhino + Jetty has partnered with a number of compensation benchmarking tools to determine competitive and fair market pay bands for our size and stage. Our goal is to ensure each employee is paid equitably and competitively while also maintaining a consistent and standardized methodology.

Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors including qualifications for the role, experience level and balancing internal equity relative to other teammates.
