Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for various projects, ensuring all factors are considered.
Analyse project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to prepare thorough cost summaries.
Update and maintain cost databases and other reference materials.
Perform precise quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings.
Identify and quantify all necessary materials, labor, and equipment needed for project completion.
Utilise specialised software to enhance accuracy and efficiency in take-off processes.
Compile detailed BoQs that clearly outline all project requirements.
Ensure BoQs are comprehensive and align with project specifications and drawings.
Regularly update BoQs to reflect any changes or adjustments in project scope.
Obtain and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, ensuring they are competitive and align with project requirements.
Conduct thorough reviews of subcontractor bids for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
Negotiate with subcontractors to achieve the best value and quality for the project.
Requirements
Proficiency in using estimating software and tools (e.g.,Groundplan Excel and Simpro.).
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong English Language Skills - written & verbal.
Strong Writing Skills - conversational Australian English.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating or a similar role.
Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
